Firstly, welcome to Fishing Outing. Sorry for the late reply as we don't often log on during weekends...due to fishing dude. Not exactly sure what kind of feedback you're referring to but here's my view. Have you cast with any of the Spin Power SC series? Both blanks are rumoured to be from the same mandrel, however the Horizon Special comes with a slightly stiffer tip and much more forgiving 'softer' butt section compared to the Spinpower. During a cast, i can feel the load right down to the top of my spinning reel but the tip will recovers instantly. Most of us do not own the rod since they are still not out in the market yet but a few including myself have tried casting with it when Edmund brought it down during one of the cast session. My opinion might differ from someone else but overall, it's a good value for money rod with the qualities of the Spin Power at less than half the cost. By the way, this is a limited edition rod. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Tks Physlo, Ok let start, I've tried casting once with SC XXX and felt it is infact a very stiff rod for a 3pcs rod Fell in love with it but could'nt afford to purchase one at that period.... I personally own Daiwa Hatteras (SZ35-425) and Izanai (40-405), to my inexperience casting knowledge Hatteras is much lighter whereas Izanai is heavy and sluggies I'm looking forward to own one of the Banana once it arrived here and very much agree with you it cost HALF of its predecessor... definately want to own at least one (XXX-435)

Bro, I have not seen or heard of anyone who X-cast with a Horizon Special. And out of curiosity, I tried it with my Spinpower with no problem maybe because my x-cast sucks big time…hahaha. Well if you ever want to give it a try, start with lighter weight - 100 gm. Anyway, the Horizon Special was designed for casting up to 200 gms. Do remember, if not properly executed…’twisting’ may results in rod brokage. Regards physlo | |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: New Shimano Horizon Alucard, Buying a rod is like chosing a wifey. Take your time to look around, ask opinions from friends and if possible, get to cast with it. Give me a call if you have my number, can talk over coffee. As for myself, i would use 3 pcs surf rods for fishing and 2 pcs for distance casting. Regards physlo |
