Need info on surf rod

Are there any reliable 3 piece surf rods less than $350 I've got a Surf Leader 405CXT and like it a lot. Are there any 3pc Shimano surf rods around my desired budget

Bro,

I have kakis using this type of rod for either fishing or distant casting. For a good brand and reliable is hard to find for that kind of budget.

If you don't have any particular preference for brand, Laser 35-425 is a good rod from Taiwan. It is a spinning type and cost around $200. One of my kakis landed a 15 kg plus pari couple of weeks back at Changi. Rod modified to multplier low reel usage. Reel is Abu 7000.

If you are looking for a second hand 3pc rod then it is easier to get for that kind of budget. The Shimano Surf Leader or Daiwa Power Cast is a good rod for fishing. BTW, ur intended use of fishing will be?

1. Light surf
2. Medium to heavy surf

Cheers,

Hi Ozzy, the rod I'm looking for will be for 14-20lb test max. Thanks for the tip off on Lazer. Edros have told me about it. In fact I saw the higher end, red 3pc model with low rider guides at Gina's. Just worried about the warranty issue. Do you know if there's any warranty for the Lazer

StickBom!,

I used to own the similiar model but silver in colour. The model is Infinite 38-425 by Heirty Rise and come with a nice bag and cost around $400. A good and strong fishing rod but not suitable for power casting. Waranty wise not so good lah. After so many tip breakge issue the claiming can be very slow and now almost impossible. But never heard of any Laser breakage yet. Waranty is also from the same manufacturer in Taiwan. but for that kind of price abt $150 verses performance is worth buying.

The Laser should be more than enough for surffishing from Singapore shore unless kena something more than 15kg than good luck. Anyway why don't you drop by this Monday afternoon 3pm onwards at our usual casting ground with Edros( he knew about the place) and perhaps you can see some of the rods that might attract your attention. You can even test cast if you like. No Problemo. Cheers and have a Happy Lunar New Year.

Thanks Ozzy. What kinda guides does your silver Laser come with I'm terrified of using non warranty surf rods cos they are so prone to breakages... me too used to flinging big poppers on broom stick popping rods :P Think I might save up for a higher end Shimano

If I can escape from visiting relatives on Monday then I might end up at PRP for a 6hr luring session Cheap cheap... $20 no fish also not so heart pain
