Re: need help on surf rod

If Pioneer had overhead versions for their Platinum surf rods I'll highly recommend them! I liked my first Platinum so much that I bought a second one

Re: need help on surf rod

ahtian,

Welcome or wannakam to FO. Mikey had suggested a reasonable priced rod fitted with good components. But we could advice you more if you tell us about your prefered lenght, action and what kind of fishing will you be doing most of the time.

Regards

Mikey,
You have the 9' right? Did you bought the 12' as well?

Re: need help on surf rod

Hi ahtian,

10ft or 12ft does not really matter or make much difference while doing beach fishing. In fact, many people will prefer longer rods. Since I presume you wont be doing distance casting, Mikeys recommendation would make a good choice. This rod its reasonably priced, fitted with good components, easy to cast for beginners just by a simple overhead style. And will handle up to 100gm or Size 3-1/2 sinker comfortably.

Some other rods you could consider are the Loomis & Franklin Big Game series, Penn Powergraph or the Abu Viper. They are between 11-13ft long.

Re: need help on surf rod

i am think of doing distance casting as i alway find it very interesting. but i will like to invest on 1 rod so that i will not need to change to another when i master casting with multipiler.

Also, is there a place that teach how to cast for distance casting??

Get a big X'mas hamper and send it to master Pyslo's home... that would probably make him consider taking you as his padawan

Hey Edros just in case uncle wants to make his $700 spinner look more chio... check out this round, matching colored handle knob from Gaar!

ahtian,

If you intend to use for both, then look for a rod that is 13-14ft long. With a budget of $180 - $260, check out the Penn INXS or PPT series. The INXS will suit a beginner just fine. If you wish to know or learn a fair bit on sportcasting, you need to join a group of regular casters who frequents the open field behind Tampines Fire Station to do their practices. These guys will be glad to give you some guidance.

PM me your number and i will hook you up with one of these guys.

Regards
