Low Reel or High Reel - Low Sinker or High Sinker

Hello All,

What is your take on this. Why some prefer the low reel and some prefer the high reel and some the spinner.

Some prefer high sinker, some prefer low sinker and some prefer the flat arc. Why do we choose the way we cast now.

What ever way we choose at the end of the day it's how far the sinker will land.

I love to hear from you guys on the field on why you choose to cast your choosen way.

Cheers,

Ozzy

I used high reel when I started and thought low reel was too awkward to be adopted. However, after trying out low reel style, I personally feel that one can punch the rod more as the hand is directly holding onto the rod and not punching with a reel. Just need to get used to the change.

Tried high sinker, hit the ground....tried low swing, much better. Now this deadswing method, just need to get the right technique and timing. Hopefully soon. When all else fails, otg is the way to go. :P

Regards

Guys,

I choose to cast they way i do right now coz of the distance it can achieved but i won't hesitate to try other types of stlye as long as it can get the distance.

Be it on a spinning or multiplyer reel, high or low mount, i just take what i have and try to whack as hard as i can. I'm not much of a theory person but sometimes just do a little bit of research out of curiousity.

Ozzy, a new rod to cast with this weekend. Rung-up for spinning, believe will get good distance also. Thinking of trying the x-cast a few times with this rod and see how it goes. See yah

Cheers!

Hello,

I for the first time cast with my Penn Inxs II GroundCast bought 2nd hand. High reel mounted with a multi. Casting style high sinker. Distant so so. Finally, saved enough money for the Shimano Spin Power XX. Meant rod at that time and paired nicely with a long spool spin reel. Got kicked by it all the time. Once tamed it it will do what you want.

Finally. got poison with UK rod by some one. Cast low reel and fell in love almost immediately. Enjoy this setup till now and a joy to cast cos no back bone breaking effect. Load progressively and slowly. A lot of power from this rod and still not able to load it fully. Will try other variety of cast juz to feel how this rod perform. Hope to see my PB with this rod soon.

Physlo,

Another rod from you. Poison in the vein already lah Bro. 2 weeks back a new rod and 2 weeks later another new one.
Make me shiver whole body. At this rate, it will get even more difficult to be there among the top casters. But, I like this competitiveness environment. It will put everyone on their toes. Once you slacken down, you will be left behind.

Cheers, C U this Sunday

Brudder ,

Me too started out with high mounted reels using 65 Mag then , but as I started to progress and improve , I feel that I cannot control the high reel anymore as it always slip and everything from the loading.... till the compression.... everything happen too fast ,

So , I decidec to change to low reel .... by moving it low reel with left hand , then I feel that everything is so smoother and I can control it better especially with powerful rod .............

Now , I'am back with high reel again , but this time using spinner , pse don't ask me why but I figured out that I've ever use spinner before but only for a short period of time only and I felt its not enough lahhh........

Yo Casting Bros,

I'm very new to this kinda game actually but fell in love with it since knowing Mr Kin Kitaya.... Yeah u guys should know him well....

I started out casting with low reel using 65 match with PPT Pendulum original spec... Left alone unguided and trying very hard to achieve those distance i've always dream of.....

U guys have actually guided (Racun) me directly or indirectly and made me stripped my rod and cast high reel (Japan Technique). I almost give up especially the 'Ding Dong' part which left me weeks of body aching... But its worth the efford....

Now i'm casting low reel / high reel both multi and spinner, still prefer low reel as slippage is almost none and i'm able to control the releasing point as Neil Mackellow said "Casting low reel is forgiving unlike high reel, release too fast result in immature loading, too slow it will go astray".

Anyway it's just my personal preference others might not agree with me

p/s : Quote from Mr Alan Yates author and rod review specialist "You could use the same equipment as the world champion uses but could you achieve the same sucess?"...

Very subjective hah...

Well overall, i'm not consistence with my casting technique and once awhile it hit good distance with the help of nature ofcourse... Really need to do more training in order to be as near as possible to u guys or else i'm gonna be left far behind...

Cheers

Y,

Have u received any e-mails from me

Cheers
