Guys, those of you who like the baitrunner function but didn't fancy the way those earlier BTR reels lay line or the flex in its body then go check out the latest BTR D series. I just bought mine at TTC a week plus ago and will be pairing it to a 12' Team Daiwa S Surf Classic. My 12000D feels pretty rigid for a reel that's made of graphite and lays line as nicely as any of the newer spinners in Shimano's current line up.
Hi Mikey ...... if you are talking about this one, it's a decent reel, as the baitrunners have been from the get go ...... but the rotor flexes quite a bit under drag. A buddy got the 8000D a few months back via the internet & have been using it for Rompin sails.
Hey Makaira, thanks for the tip off. I haven't had a chance to use the BTR yet but didn't really feel any flex when winding line on manually under tension. Hopefully the larger models, with their bigger rotors, will flex less under load
