    Backside itchy again

    Hello kakis,

Thinking of buying a 3 piece rod (preferable Daiwa or Shimano).
Hatteras, Sundowner, XX, XXX, ABC, EFG, XYZ......

Main reason is to be on the go. Anything anywhere can cast. Can't run around with my TT-R.

Anyone wish to let go theirs.

New_surfer's offer is too ex for me.

Mr Lee, for a go-anywhere, do-anything, not-expensive surf cast rod, try St. Croix. I am not very sure where to buy in Singapore.

Zzippies and the like are too expensive to risk in "hairy" areas.

    Hi, TPfisherman,

Do you know of any model to recommend? I have not come across any surf rod from St. Croix suitable for sportscasting.

    Cheers!

Physio, try St. Croix "Ben Doerr Surf System...." 10-footer for 1-3 ounces.

11-footer (or is it 11 1/2 footer?) for 1-4 ounces.

Not recommended for Tournament Casting purposes. If break during Tournament use, you are on your own.

They are O.K for bait soaking, though. 100 to 130 metres easily, not even at full compression.

    Bro,
Don't think it will work, the rod must be able to handle 100-150gm. Anyway, thanks for the info.

    Cheers!

    Daiwa...Daiwa...Daiwa...

Bro... why not try a LandCaster - I've seen a buddy of mine having it...it's a beauty. Fuji SIC low-rider... good quality, trusted brand. Light. Stiff (I saw the 35-425)... Just my thoughts. Good luck with your hunt.

Physio, St. Croix "Bend Doerr Surf System" they have 125-150 gramme model, too, but I have not personally owned and tested/fished them. I have observed other people using them, but I was not impressed with what I saw. I think the best one of the whole St. Croix series is the 11-foot one for 1-4 ounces.

Re: "where can I view the rod........?" Now, that is a really tough question. I am not trying to be funny, but the last time I used it was in 1998 August. It is somewhere in my house I am sure, but exactly where I haven't got a clue. When/if I do manage to dig it out from my piles of junk and antiques, I will PM you. Maybe we can meet at Tampines Civil Defence field on some Sunday, and you can see how it performs (O.K. lah, the performance, but it is no Zziplex, that's for sure).

Meanwhile, let me just see if I can find a picture of that rod online.

I have not wet a line in SG. waters for close to 2 decades. Due to work commitments. So, if you have not gotten into fishing at least 19 years ago, it is highly unlikely that we would have met.

Also, I have not thrown a cast on land or on water in SG. for close to 2 decades. The only reason I know about civil defence field is because friends tell me that people cast there on Sundays.

But, as soon as I find my casting gear, sure, no problem for me to turn up and try a cast or 2 with the enthusiasts here.

[You guys may be disappointed at my cast, though. I cast to catch fish, I do not cast for the sake of casting. I find that in real fishing, casting too far is kind of disadvatageous. ]

If that's the case, i have mistaken you for another kaki. Anyway, feel free to drop by on Sundays around 4pm onwards. Most of us take up sportscasting and try to remain competitive for the next competition. It's also a good way to past time.

Depending on where fishing is done, some places do require us to cast further to catch fishes. My regular kakis can vouch for me on this. Cheers!

    Regards
