Hey MarkR, what's the price range for factory JM rods like? and what's their heaviest overhead model? I'm looking for something not too pricey that can double up for both jigging and bottom fishing. Too bad the Wrex only has a PE6 for overhead models. If they had PE8 versions I would have bought a pair for the year end outing.

Yo Mikey,
Sorry mate, not sure how much cheaper a JM factory rod will be. The heaviest overhead model they had was a JM 500g Monster rated PE 6-10. Jason the rod builder tells me that this has to be the toughest JM blank because of the extra layers of carbon wrap and a special form of wrapping employed in the construction of this particular blank. Jason recommended this blank with an ATD-12. JM blank models change frequently so it gets very confusing, the Monster is out of production I believe (production cost was too high) so I think the current heaviest would be the JM 600g.
Thanks for the insight!Too bad the local shakespeare agent isn't keen to bring in the 37kg model for their Ugly Stik Bluewater range... otherwise it would have been a clear choice for me
