    Three Kings Islands

Location: Three Kings Islands in New Zealand
    Date: 20th-24th March 2009
Anglers: Pony Liu (Taiwan), Rick Fu (Taiwan), Chris Wong (New Zealand)Well (New Zealand), Andrew (New Zealand), Ricky (Australia) & myself
    DVD Cameraman: Mr Yen (Taiwan)

Even though nothing really big landed, we caught lots of fish of average sizes. That's the only place I have ever fished till I can't recall any spot that nothing was hooked whenever my jigs were able to reach the bottom. I had more than 20 burst off during the trip and came back with just 3 jigs.
We were there to target kingies but caught other fish like hapuka, bass, blue nose, blue cod, grandpa hapuka, tarahiki, golden trevally, etc.

Blackfish, are you from Australia? Whereabout in Australia do you fish? I am thinking of going to New Caledonia, Hamilton Island or Port Lincoln to jig.

We didn't take a lot of photos because everyone was busy fishing.

You mean JM reels? PE4 is in the market but PE5 is still being tested before production. PE4 was very good and smooth and I can't find any fault. I only used PE5 to land 1 fish. PE5 still have some problem with drag that need to be corrected before they can produce.

    Mark,

To be honest, there were so many hook ups there. Everyone just fish and fish. Nobody bothered to count who got the most or biggest. We didn't even really take photos or weigh. I think so far only 2-3 pcs were weigh on the first day and I don't think they are the biggest landed during the trip. Once landed, we release immediately and drop the jig again. A place with lesser fish is a better place to determine who is the best. However, I were to choose, I think Rick Fu (the one with beard) got the most bigger size fish in that trip.

    .
Hi Cwtan12, I'm from Sydney. NSW.
Most of my fishing is done in the estuarys locally for smallish fish (up to 1KG), when I get a chance drive up the coast for some livebaiting off the Ocean/rock overnight, for much bigger fish.
I do a trip up to NW Island once a year, (see my posts) also I head up to the Kimberlys (WA) guiding, see also my posts.
Jigging is not that popular in those spots.

Jigging is done in Sydney but like all major cities with a ocean on its front door step it gets heavily fished.
I have not heard of good jigging out of Hamilton island, but its a popular tourist Island where you can drop a partner off while you go for a bit of a fish.
Port Lincon has some long range trips for Sampson.
Perth (in Western Australia) and also Freemantle (Western Australia) I believe has some great jigging in season for Sampson.
For a expensive trip but very good i've been told Nomad Sportfishing -Mothership Fishing Charters Australia

Sorry I cant help anymore than that but I have a few friends in the Australia fishing tackle industry that I can always ask.
    Regards
    Gordon.

Gordon, Thanks for your information. I have enquired Nomad a couple of weeks ago but that is way too luxury to me. The whole trip can cost me close to $10k if includes air ticket and hotel stay. The doggies there are big though.
