Test Run & CR 1st to 2nd March

Been quite some times since i posted Catch Report's as the season for fishing wasnt really open yet due to the unpredictable weather. The first test on 'Akudou Angler' wasnt bad as we were trying it out, just some minor probs which we manage to take care of.

2nd Test run was going well as we manage to run the engine on 4000rpm with a speed of 72km/hr. We wanted to head out 80km north west but as the wind was picking up with swells as high as 2meters, we decided to tie up to one of the nearby rigs for safety reason.

Catch during the nite till dawn wasnt that good due to the weather but my friend manage to land a 10kg GT using just a shimano callisto spooled in with 10lbs braided line,30lbs shock leader and a very soft daiwa rod which he used for casting. Caught the fish on 80gm jig and it took him nearly 10min to land it due to the very light setup.Biting frenzy started as early as 7am till 12pm with assorted of fishes being hooked up in different areas of reefs. The size of the fish wasnt that big but dinner table fish was alot to be split between the 3 of us.

Sorry for the short report but i hope you guys and girls will enjoy the pics of the CR and a few photo's of 'Akudou Angler'. I will be having a few trips coming up soon and hope to have a good CR on them.. at the meantime.. keep the lines tight yea...

Re: Test Run & CR 1st to 2nd March

Went out this afternoon on plan to head to the dropoff. Launched the boat at 2pm but tide was low and had to do some pushing, etc etc to get the boat into deeperwater. Made our move 20min later and discover that the wind and waves coming frm NE of the dropoffside.

So decided to head to magpie area. Did some jigging and manage to get a strike on the 3rd drop of my jig. Fight was strong at first but then weaken and when i landed it, it was a a mackarel around 3kg but to my dissapointment, it came up bleeding. Something bit the 1/3 of the tengirri at its tail side. Bluediver also manage to land a same size tru jigging as well and got the whole mackarel up. After jigging for 1/2hr after that with no bites, decided to do bottom bashing. Manage to land some small groupers and pisang-pisang. I manage to reel up something heavy which i thought was some rusty metal piece but was surprised to see a stingray 4 feet in width, my friend however missed the ray with the gaff and it broke the leeader as it made a dash for its life. The Skipper Boy manage to jig up a languran around 3 to 5kg in weight tru jigging as well. All jigs used was around 100 to 120gms.

Suddenly at around 7ish, the boat started to rock really bad with waves rising as high as 2 to 2.5m and very strong wind heading our way. So best decision was to head back on land as soon as possible for safety reason. Reached the ramp by 10'ish and saw a few boats there going back up again. The ride on the boat today was like a riding a horse. I lost the boats front cabin door and even the front cabin window was cracked and due to the rough sea. Guess i have to prepare it as soon as possible for the next trip.

So guys wanting to head out in outboards, please be cautious as the weather and sea is unpredictable. Ssfety first as we only live once, the fishes can wait to be hooked up in the future.
