Day 1
Upon reaching Perth airport, there was a sign of relieve from most of us after surviving the “food” and the “GT knot tying” onboard.
Time checked: aus0130hrs.
Coach was there to fetch us from the airport to Hillary Resort which is 40min away.
Sunrise at 0430hrs so there is some time for us to catch some sleep…
Reaching Hillary, we are greeted by Simon and Kevin who are there one day earlier to do some sight seeing and shopping…Where is Lod?? This question went through my mind…After much searching, we found him sleeping away in the room…hahahaha!!!!
As anglers, we will never give in to the Zzzz monster until we finish setting up our tackle. Agreed??
The weather was damned cold with winds blowing hard on our faces…Report from local forum say that its summer time leh…What happened??? Lucky we had sent in spy to check the weather and local food…We were informed that we need jackets and instant noodles…
Daylight came and all of us are geared up for the heavy exercise ahead…
Weather was cold and sunny.
The Captain and crews greeted us and welcome us onboard Blue Juice.
Off we go for some Sambos jigging…
Spot is abt one hour away and once we saw Rottenest Island, we all got excited …
Mark and I were the first to drop the jig and had instant strikes…Wow……That was fast!!!!
Lines peeling out fast and furious….What the heck take my jig??? Samson Lah!!! shouted the deckie.
Almost instantly my line broke …Guess I set the drag too high…
Mark continued to bring up his fish…The rest upon seeing such good hookup immediately dropped their jigs…And all register hookups…!!!!!
Samson Jigging continued throughout the afternoon….All drops register hookups and we also have a few “Shark attack”. Everyone had fun and laughter ….Juz imagine that u are forced to drop your jig ….Really drop till U scared!!! No joke!!!
Soon some of us tired out and started to do some weird stance in fighting the fish…Like using the gunwale and stop to breathe some air during the fight. Once U start, the group will gather around and jeered and takan U…
Day 1 ended with over 70pcs of Samson landed….
Day 2
Again off we went to Rottenest Island for the Sambos..
This time round, we decided to do some bottom bouncing for the Pinkies in the afternoon
After the last round, most of us are suffering from body ache and arm cramps…Only one guy managed to be trouble-free…Don need me to point out ,U guys know who lah…hahahhaa1!!!
I am very impressed with Edmund jigging style which is very familiar to the AG style...Short and fast strokes...
Again the tug –of-war begins…
Spanner and lead weight were used and all had good hits which are unstoppable …So too say, hits on the weight and spanner were not landed…So next time U guys went down, don need to bring jigs juz bring spanner and lead weight can liao..!!!!!
This time round , we managed to land almost over 70pcs of Sambos with a few Amberjacks landed also…Biggest ard 1.3-1.5m long….
Day 3
Weather was tough and choppy .Cold winds blowing hard….I did not bring along my jacket and suffer from seasick and coldness. Thus did not managed to fish much…I went over to join the seasick gang at one side….The action is still good but the weather have no mercy on us. Choppy and cold winds prevented us from fishing long at the Sambos ground, so we decided to do some bottom bouncing instead.
Black ass and dhufish were caught. The swa chiam is huge there.. Abt a meters long..
Every fish caught is a snapper there…says the part time deckie who is also a editor/photographer for the WA Fishing Magazine. He says that if we managed to land a huge Sambo ,we have a chance to appear on the magazine..Wow!!!! A chance of a lifetime…We quickly moved on to the Samson ground which the Captain promise huge Sambos .
True enough, Simon managed to get huge bite and proceed to land the biggest Samson on our trip….Its very huge ard 1.7m I think…Wish fulfill for all of us !!!!!
Day 3 , Only a few Samson landed expect the huge Samson landed by Simon…
Its due to the bad weather …..But still we managed to have fun and laughter onboard..
We had a chance to meet up with Honsu and James over at our resort…Good advise from them and nice to meet them up personally….
My personal opinions for this trip is full of fun and laughter …I am glad that all of us had fun and managed to land the fish that we came for…Its worth very cents and penny for this trip…
Hope we can have another round next year!!!!
Cheers
Jason
