Hi Everyone,
This is my six trip for this year on Board “MARAWATHA”
Went on a fishing trip on May14,2005 at the usual fishing spot.
14 May 2005
Fetch the fisho at Batam Centre @ 7.40 am .
Load all the gear in the pick-up and then we went for breakfast.
This trip I bought few types of bait to test it out:
1pc Baracuda , flower crabs, tamban ( bait fish ), prawn and sotong.
Discuss on the planned trip during our breakfast.
Reach harbour @ 12.00 noon and was informed by the boatman that the pier ran out of diesel.
So I ask the guy who supplies us the diesel to check if there is diesel in other island.
Upon checking with other island we found the diesel we need at Pulau Abang.
Left harbor @ 12.30 Wib and the weather is sunny.
Arrived at Pulau Abang @ 1.30 Wib and fill up the Marawatha
We were supposed to fish for "Parrot" but due to small hickup ( no diesel)
the plan was shelf and we head for the first location.
Weather is fine but cloudy.Reach first location at 16.00 wib
Using "yesterday" sotong as bait the first fish caught was an eel and more followed by most of the fisho.
Time now 19.30 wib and the sun already gone but the sign of live sotong still in the waiting.
During this time we caught eels after eels........eeeee.........
I even get double hook up on my rig......
Me and another fisho were neck to neck catching eels........
The fisho then had their dinner while waiting for live sotong.
Caught the first sotong ( Arrow head) @ 21.30 wib and everyone got an even share of the sotong
The next take was a black spot coral trout.
Then a 500gm Gelama.
Have not caught this for a long time and usually caught it below that mark!!!
The first ACK was caught @22.00wib and followed by a Baracuda
Then a mama ACK @ 5kg fought the fish for about 5 minute.
Still catch the eel and I today I was the king of eels......
15th May 2005
We had to reposition the Marawatha when the fish is not biting and the funny thing is that after we had to reposition the Marawatha there is a take on the bait.
Live sotong is hard to come by and all fisho used wisely on the bait thats present .
Caught my first ACK and that will be the day!!!!!
My crew had a strong take on his handline and was fighting the fish quietly and then his line got entangled will all the fisho.....
I tought I had the fish cause my rod bend and its taking line out.
So have to just wait till he brings the fish up.
It was the only RED for the day and it weigh @ 4kg.
At about 2.30wib, there was a slow cold blow on my face and my boatman starts the engine and all lines were up.
After the boat moves for about 30 minutes we were hit by the storm and the Marawatha head back to inshore to take cover.
Reach inshore @ 5.00 wib and the sky still dark....
We called it a day as the rain and wind didn't look like stopping.
Reached harbour at 8.30 Wib
