    The Important Hour

Went for overnite offshore fishing on 29 Sep 07.

Boarded boat at RSYC at 1830hrs. A total of 4 kakis were tasked the mission. Went to 1st spot to catch squids to last ur thru out the trip.
1st fish were caught. This bugger pulled my rig into the coral n stay at home for a while. In came out soon after n then pump it. My personal record had been broken. Its a grouper, the weight is 6lbs+.

At the spot, a 800 grams AC was landed. We managed to catch enough squids and move off to a wreck. No fishes were caught throughout the nite. All were quite disappointed as most of the biat were taken by sea lices. They are everywhere. Cold water and a deep sea KBL was landed before day break.

We are fishing at water depth of 140 ft. The baits were now taken by small fishes. Boatman managed to catch a 3lb AC. He missed 2 big take. By then the current was moving n off we moved to another spot.

By now, we were using sinker of 1kg. The sinker cant even hold on n we were like flying kites. Very soon, 2 kaki register bite and 2 2lbs AC was landed. I had my share of AC and at this spot, 4 ACs of 2lbs were landed within 15 mins. We shifted to another spot. No bite was register. We then shifted to next spot where we hit jackpot. 2 kakis sitting side by side had strong take and 2 rare catch was landed. GT landed at SG waters.

Next follow were 2 kaki got their leader rip off while the other, the fish throw hook. Those are very strong take. Its pity that they were not landed. I got a take n started fighting. The fish keep struggling n Boatman thought it might be a GT. After 20 mins of tug of war, finally it surfaced. I rewrote my own record again. Its a Grouper at 10lbs.

AFter the 1 hour of frenzy, the action slow down. The current start to slow down as well. The pics of the ACs

A total of 20 fishes were landed.

    2 x Grouper
    7 x AC
    1 x Guhood
    1 x Parrot
    2 x Queenfish
    2 x GT
    2 x Sting ray
    3 x Deepsea KBL

The pic for the total catch.

Tackle used - Genesis PE4-7 Rod pair with Ryobi Marfix
Rig - Langgong with 80lbs tracer
Sinker - Range from size 8 to size 35

End of catch report. Cheers n tight lines.

    Hi Ron,

    Nice catches on Osman's boat.

Did he give your group some lectures on thick leaders, fish behaviour and tackles? He is a friendly boatman with some good spots around st john and sister island.

    Cheers

In fact he did brief us how to prevent our rig from getting stuck at the corals. What poundage of tracer to use and how long the tracer need to be. The tips that he pass to us is invaluable.

    Regards
