Singapore Horsburgh 20th Day Trip with Raju

The boat set sail at 0520am. The day was very young, but the morale were high. All waiting to see wat action horsburgh would provide.

Cruising at a speed of 19knots we soon reached our destination around 8am. The sun was bright and warm. I unpacked the ultimate bait for the morning, Kelong Sotong. We were told it works well for early morning.


Armed with a single size 3 hooks, Jigger nr2000p & a shimano Type J. Off it goes. It din take long before action starts. Starts with small biting on tha bait. Awhile later, actions stopped, guess the bait was gone. Changed bait, n lower again. It goes like " Dong... Dong.. There it goes. a strong pull.my old type J Bent like a "J"..Get ready Net...off i heard Raju.

The pull was strong, lucky my mod Jigger was still able to handle. Managed to pump it up to mid water after sometime. Then Something terrible happens, could feel there was few strong attempt to break free..& there goes my unseen "monster"...Sui...HAHA..Just my luck.

The hope was high, we like monster..:P. Sometime its not the fish caught, but the action n feel u get when in action.

I shall let the pics tells wat happen thru the whole day. Pic was not well taken, cos rather dark when reach back Marina

*Conculsion

. Bring heavier rod. Tidals stream can be strong at times..up to 14 Size sinker. It hard to chose a gd day for hrosburgh. seems like tide table don really tally, conquer by boatman also. So be prepared,
don bother to bring light gears, unless those like JM rods .etc

. Get Sotong, its works well in the morning. Dono why the Kaci n Parrots at horsburg like them so much

. If holding ur rod on hand is ur style, don lose hold. There were many STRONG SUDDEN pull. Never full lock at ur reel when rod is at rod stand.

. caught might be consider average to some. But nevertheless we are contented, partly 2 guys are first timer offshore.
there were numerous strong pull, which rods like calstar 30-80 also hv problem bring em out. Braided 60lbs main line burst too.

Overall Gd Trip..less the blazing sun..hahah

sure.. Think hv to change some technique to catch those super fast predators. thinking of bring some JM rods ..light n bending sabre for next battle.
