If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
Man to be honest I couldn't care less about fishing when the viral fever hit me... all I wanted was my comfy bed and my wifey to look after me
Hey Edy lets go salty rubbering with Ah Tan (Ah Cheng) sometime soon. My wifey just bought me a new BC rod for Salty Rubbering as Christmas gift and I can't wait to try it out!
LSK how did the trip go for you?

Well it was a good experience for me tooNever slept so much on a boat in my life... well I guess there's always a first for everything. Oh by the way, I lost about 220m of line to that snag
. Just reeled the balance 380m or so of PE6 onto my Saltiga Z6500.

That is an expensive loss.![]()
Fishing is great!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it man
Okay I've managed to resize some of the photos from the trip but I think everyone was too busy during the yellowfin bite to snap photosWe didn't take photo of those weird looking bottom fishes taken on jigs too.
Disclaimer- Behind that bright sunny smile of mine in most of the shots, was a sick man aching in every joint you can find in the body![]()
Ehhhhh Mikey,
You one tough cookie to smile like that running a temperature....and thats a cool sized grouper dude.
I had a hit & run Christmas Eve and got my ass frozen and royally kicked by high winds, big seas and crap fishing that night.... all I got was a single 5kg big eye trevally that night.... daytime at first I wanted to just head home, but then the wind died down, the sun came out and Ishak drifted us over a couple of reefs that filled the coldbox with nice sized Kerisi Bali, Red Snapper and Grouper.... will see if I can find a pic or 2.
Regards,
Saimee

LOL, Hafeez and Co. damn near had to club me with a 10lb YFT to get my attention![]()
Hmmm the weather on your side has been pretty unpredictable for a while now! More typhoons and hurricanes brewing somewhere or just the monsoon acting up? Oh by the way, you see that rod my "JIggger 6000P" is sitting on? Thats the "Tong Gas Special'For a rod with such a glassy feel, it sure can detect a bite at 200m! You gotta get one for yourself when its launched man
stickbom, did you have your fever before you boarded the boat? nice pics tho.
my ankle is sprained and i can barely walk. coming tuesday is my trip and i dont know if i can go. thats CRAP.
Mikey,
The rod looks the biz dude...in fact it looks the same colour as those Super Seeker Blanks and I really like the butt length definitely my kind of set up.... If the price is right, I'll give it a go, but you know my preferences in Bottom Howitzers...
Zeck..... Ice dude, lots of ice....
Best of luck dude,
Saimee

Saimee - yeah, have been "on ice" past few days to get the swelling down. Doc said it might be gout???!! Sheesh, never considered that possibility.
Thankfully though, I feel much better today in that I could at least limp. Crossing fingers that I would be okay tommorrow!

Sorry to hear that Zeck.
Check out this link about Gout, pretty informative

Zeck, wear an ankle brace and keep that leg dry! All the best for your trip dude.
Saimee, the Tong Gas special is meant for the Asian market so I reckon its going to be pretty affordable.
The photos were taken by Andrew and Suan. If not for them, I think there'll be very few photos to show!

and about 8 rods

Hi Andrew,
Welcome to FishingOuting. On my trip, i did not try popping but mostly jigging and some bottom fishing. Maybe Stickbom could share his experience on popping in Burma Banks. (We went on same date but different boats)
You might want to bring some small jigs like 60 to 90 grams for Yellow Fin Tuna at night. We had encounters with those tunas on 2 separate nights and they were only interested with small jig.
Also if you are targeting those deep water grouper, please bring some size 12 circle hooks.
On this trip, i only brought 2 sets of fishing tackle (used 1 set only)
Ohh if at night there were flying fish jumped onto the boat, it is a very good bait ... just hook it and send it down to the bottom!
Btw did you apply any permit from Myanmar Navy to fish in Burma Banks?
Enjoy and have fun!
Edy

Hi Andrew, you can leave some of the stuff at home. All you will need is 3 to 4 outfits at MOST.
Z4500-> rigged for topwater plugging/PE5
expedition-> for deep jigging (you can leave this at home too if you can jig with the torsa 30)
torsa 30-> for bottom bashing
luvias 300-> for casting small jigs 60-80g
Thanks Edy yep have all the permits and have hired a guide to be on our boat, will definately take some smaller jigs, will be in Phuket two before we leave so plan to have a look around town and see if there are any good tackle stores there plus need to pick up sinkers and bait.
Second day will be setting up the brother inlaws boat for the trip as we are fishing on that but staying on a mothership at night time
Thanks Stickbom might do that but can never have too much tackle, have een thinking of getting spare spools for the 4500 and the expedition then they could be multi tasked
Andrew, I am leaving for my Burma Banks trip very early tommorrow morning. My tackle will be:
1. Light jigging/Casting set for 40-60gm lures/jigs
2. Tuna Casting set (I am screwed if a large-ish GT takes the lure)
3. PE4 Jigging set
4. PE5 Jigging (to backup the PE4)
Bringing 40-60gm jigs, 80-100gm jigs, 50gm tuna stickbaits, and a dozen 200-300gm jigs.
Will post when I am back online, probably later than 09 Jan because I have to travel the same day I am back on business.
Have a good one fellas, and wish me lotsa luck!!
zeck
Thanks Zeck have a good trip mate will definately have to get some stick baits
