Went for some meating hunting this weekend. Terrible weather with strong wind, heavy rain and continuous wave. Lucky, we have a comfortable boat and nice captain. Our trip ended with some nice eating size fishes. Everyone goes home happily.

Were you guys anchored over a coral patch or perhaps drift fishing? I don't seem to see any ungahs. Nice makan size coral trouts there. Fishball galore with those "han che" fish

Hi Th2x - Thanks for the comment. 8 persons went for the trip. Everyone got at least 1 coral trout and some fishes to bring back.


Hi Makaira - Pity the anchorman, have to pull up the anchor very often. Boatman was very hardworking, changing spot when the fishes is not biting. Coral trout are territorial fishes, only 2 or 3 in one spot. Parrot, coral trout and han che caught in the day. Angkuey, kaci grouper and barracuda at night. We caught around 10+ live squid that night but boatman is targetting angkuey cos most of the night spot is muddy with small stones. Strong wind and raining after mid night may have cause the water to turn cold that's why we are catching barracudas and nurse shark. Most of the grouper are caught in 1 spot at night.

Mark - Weather is very uncertain in july and august. It was choppy sea for this trip and another trip 2 weeks ago.
