    Loomis & Franklin

Brought 3 friends to 2000Tackle sometime last week as they were looking for rods/reels. They bought 3 L&F spin rods which looked pretty decent for about S$60. Its grip area is fashioned like the Daiwa Saltiga jig/pop rods and the butt section has a woven graphite finish. Had a feel of the rod when my friends snagged up at the beach and I'm totally convinced these are strong enough for light popping at Rompin! Can't recall if they were 7 or 8 footers but I'll get you guys the exact model/specs soon!

    Mike,

They are indeed good value for money. Slow action rods, will bend all the way to the foregrip but not easy to break. Good idea to test them out in Rompin.

You saw them too? Model is GSPS 8-E 8' Lure:30-60g friend says there's no line rating printed on the rod but I think 20lb feels about right

    Mark,

Not sure but i guess it's the trend nowadays. Anglers like to try out different styles. I have use 14ft telescopic surf rod that bend into a 'C' shape on a 20kg plus ray. Not weird but fun actually.

This is a really long awaited update 6yrs after my friends bought the L&F, they finally made a trip up to Rompin with me. One had a Penn SSg paired to his L&F and the other had a Abu Cardinal 800 series on his. Both of the them landed Sails on a Daiwa Shore Line Shiner minnow lure intended for Macks! I used one of the L&F outfits and landed a sail too. With all honesty if I can still find this rod @ the shops I'll buy a few and have the guides changed to Fuji SIC! The rod casts really well and have plenty power in the butt to control Sails. This must be the best S$60 rod I've ever used!
