Hi All,
Will there be any significant difference between say a rod rate PE5 and a rod rated PE 3 to 5?
Figure there must be some reasons for the rating.
Can anyone help out on this?
Many thanks in advance!
Cheers!

somtimes i also wonder... why rod makers put down their rod ratings... PE 5 MAX, (in the case of Shimano Jigrex) and other japanese made put down ratings in a range like PE4-8..
and then for a rod that PE 4-8... what and how will it react to PE 2-3?
hahaha.... intriquing rite?
The answer lies in the action of the rod. The reason why gives a range really depends on the rod maker himself.. giving a range is really additional information. That's why some rods just state the max. Just think, what about american rods? They also use ranges, but in imperial measurements...
Still mystified? Dun be... at the end of the day, just look at the end of the range... and then test the tip action for yourself... then you will know what the blank is used for.
To put it simply .... yes... the PE rating will tell you the max PE its meant for... the range is to tell you the type of action it will give you, with respect to the lure weight.. you will see that when rod's give you PE rating range they will also specify the lure weight...
There may be more... but this much I know. Sometimes, too much information adds to the confusion...
