Hi Mark,
I have to agree with you on the rating of the rods from Sevenseas. After getting 4 rods from Sevenseas direct, I'm a little confuse on the rating as well. And I think the power level indicates the lifting power and nothing else.
Hope Sevenseas can come out a clearer chart of their specs of the rods especially the drag setting.
Hi Edy,
Hope u can get a "fast and smooth" claim on your rod from the so call dealer in Singapore. Normally a claim will not be more than 2 months, if thay have the colour u want, it's even faster maybe in a few weeks time by Air. Don't be too surprise if things does not goes as smooth as you think. Good Luck .![]()

Hi DCheng,
I appreciate your input on this small community. As a forum owner I hope you could clarify the meaning of the "so call dealer" on the earlier post which you made.
As you know politics, hidden agenda and potential flame bait is the last thing I want it here.
Thank you.

Guys,
Whilst we all take a collective deep breath and step back, I believe that Edy speaks for the very great majority of the forum in his desire to ensure that our little community here remains a place of civility, respect and integrity.
So lets just wish Edy the best in his rod replacement efforts and hope that it runs along as smoothly as possible.
Lets also pray the weather clears up so I can get some #@$!%!^!&! time on the water.... I am going nuts here...
Best Regards to All,
Saimee

Hi DCheng,
I am sorry if my tone sounds harsh and that was not my intention.
I would like to thank you for the prompt reply on this matter.

Edy ,
You may have to be patient with the claim , I experienced a few broken items ( rod n reels ) claimed under warranty and they took around 6 months before the manufacturers eventually do " the right thing " .
In your case , I am quite amased the man responded so quick , you may get your rod replaced in shorter time after all .
Sportfisherman .
Hey Edy, I just went to the BBS of Sevenseas and found that the man himself is asking you to hand the broken rod over to this guy call XXXXXXXXXXXX (edited out by Pelagic since the poster remove the name too). A Singapore mobile phone is provided.

C'mon guys ...... it is evident to me that there is something sinister happening on this particular issue. No names or nicks need to be mentioned, you know who you are. Please take it elsewhere & do not cause trouble in Fishingouting. Please do not fight your battles here. Do not take advantage of the situation to further whatever cause you are pursuing. Please do not take Edy's tolerance & kindness for weakeness.
Imho, Edy has done the right thing by taking the rod back to the place he bought it for the warranty claim and Matsutani-san should honour any warranty that is applicable. If there are monetary costs involved to process the claim, it is Edy's choice whether he wants to incur it or not. In the event that there are "problems" with the claim because Edy does not contact anyone other than the shop he bought the rod from, just too bad for Edy.
This is Edy's forum. You don't like the rules here, please do not come in. So let's move on and stop all this nonsense please.

Absolutely, I totally agree Mak.
Post 330 on the Sevenseas BB makes it very clear- "if you have rods broken future you buy shop to rods send pass.you buy shop is deep sea is broken rods send pass to deep sea tackle shop. after deep sea shop from send shipping to me. i checking rods blank."...
And post 331 confirms that Edy has made the right choice- "Dear Mr Edy, I respect your decision. Kindly ask your Dealer to contact his Supplier for the claim."
These replies from Matsutani-san must surely put to rest all queries & uncertainties about local Sevenseas warranty claims.

What an exchange in the BBS ! (what does BBS stands for?)
I'm glad Matsutani clarifies things in the end. His postings sure put lots of narrow-chested/minded people everywhere at ease..
Just want to clarify that I am not the person who started the flaming thread.
I have no idea who the heck is that or why KL people want to get involved in this Singapore affairs..
But don't we all wish he will not be landing fish for a long long time?
(I think this simple curse is allowed here lah, else I apologise in advance and mod/owner please delete, thanks.)
My gut feel tells me that most of those discussions are not posted with real names, though the content are really interesting and mind-stimulating to read and probably contains some facts.. Looks like there are really lots of casualties in the past 24hours.
Edy, please keep us informed on the progress.
Enjoy your weekend.
P.S. Since Matsutani removed the name in his BBS, I have also edited my previous post to remove the name I have mentioned.
The only casualty imho is the reputation of the Singapore angling community.
I believe Edy was content to make his warranty claim from the shop he bought the rod from and let the process take it's course whatever the end result may be. If the manufacturer deemed that the rod was broken due to improper usage, or decided it to be a "claim" or a "warranty" issue as dictated by the manufacturer, I am sure Edy will accept it. There was nothing for Matsutani-san to clarify to begin with. Then it erupted into a disgraceful outburst of more inneundos and backstabbing on the manufacturer's bulletin board with people using clones & false names. This is very sad indeed.
Pelagic, you seems to be overly concern on this issue, are you? IMHO, whoever that started the flamming is no longer important now cause harm had already been done, just think how would the rest of the world look at Singapore anglers, is it worth having such negetive image projected on to us just because someone trying to get back at another person?? i'm sure you know the owner of the company that deal with the said rod locally so i dun see why you need to consistently enquire abt the status of the claim thru the net instead of giving a phone call or drop by his office to get the 1st hand news?
IMHO, chasing to win or put one over another person maybe important and fun but knowing when to let go is often alot more precious..
Mark

i think every brand also got broken rods.shit happens!
if you want an unbreakable, use a steel pole.as such we shouldn't get uptight over a broken rod and instead wish the best for the owner so as to be able to claim. screw the cynics and let's get on with life.
Hi Everyone,
I guess there is no more purpose to debate on this issue anymore. I am going to close this thread.
PS. I have reopened this thread as i am sure there will be more "interesting" discussion about to happen.
Please adhere the rules on this forum.
Thanks,
Edy
