Sabre use to sell Area Rule T-Bar handles. Not sure if there's one for 16S though.

    Re: Penn 16s

    Hi Physlo,

There is actually a T-Bar Lite made under license by Tiburon.

    T-Bar Handles

Unfortunately I don't think it is available locally, but readily available through online stores like Charkbait.

The T-Bar Lite I was told is better suited for the 16S versus the full-sized T-Bar. Some people I know who fish on the US long range tuna trips have heard of incidences regarding 16S blueprinted for higher line ratings eg 60#, using the full T-Bar, having damaged the reels because it delivers too much torque for a reel that size - not too sure about the specifics, but it concerned bent shafts & damaged gears. However if you are not one of those who fish with crazy drags, I guess the full T-bar may serve it's purpose, but be aware that the reel will be pretty off balance as the handle is huge.

The other alternative is to get a Penn 30 handle. Not too sure if it will fit the 16S, but it fits the 12T, so there may be a chance.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Makaira

Thanks Makaira. I'm certain Sabre will be able to get it in. This reel belongs to a friend.
