Hmmm...the 06 reels look uncannily similar to the ones they had in their 1974 catalog...muahahahahahahahaha

Even Penn is moving forward and incorporating better technology, can't say the same for ABU unfortunately- there was a little hope in the mamiya era but now...*sigh*

Here's an update on the performance of my new ABU 5600 C4

    1. Cranking sinkers up to size 8 NO PROBLEM
    2. Speed of retrieve is suitable for light jigging (tried working a 68g jig)
    3. Drag is smooth... landed a snapper and a grouper without breaking a sweat
    4. Casting is smooth and trouble free
    5. Holds 300m of YGK X4 PE2 nicely

I paired the reel with a Team Daiwa X Interline that's rated for 40g+ lures and max 30lb line... reeeeeally sweet combo for inshore fishing I must say Best thing is, the whole outfit is way below SGD$500

    Mike,

Have you seen any of those new series of 5500 and 6500 with the CT cage. I saw the new chrome 6500 rocket with the CT open frame on EBAY. Looks nice with all the chrome though but not sure if available here.

BTW you got those new reels from Singapore tackle shops or from Malaysia.

    Cheers

i think Abu C4 is available in Changi Pro since last week or the week before last.. they're giving out limited edition free cap or something together with purchase, can't remember the size but think there are 4600, 5600, 6500 in their range..

    Mike,

Nice meeting you dude. Remember the new 7HT Turbo I was mentioning. Attached is the mag version. Very striking colour. Some might like it some might find it wierd. Very very fast reel to cast and nice for fishing too.

    Cheers
