    Hellow everyone ~

A very warm greetings to all ~

Being registered for 590days, and this my first posting introducing myself.

Thanks to the admin team allowing me to be around for this long.
I must say this is a wonderful site.
I am amazed at the abundance of information especially on oversea fishing.

    Great work Admin team.

I am a lady angler deeply in love with fishing.
I do luring and offshore fishing in both local and Malaysia waters.
Getting more n more adventurous by the day ...

Before I realise my Ximas Island dream ....
Am planning a trip to Bangkok during early Feb 2009 for some fun with the kitties there.
I am at a lost which type of tackles to bring along with me.
    Any advises appreciated.

Thank you and good day all~

Will be there for a week long so I guess I should have sufficient time
and energy to have some fun at the famous IT lake, Boon Ma Bara pond and Bungsamran Pond.

I have never been to any pond fishing be it overseas or local.

A total newbie in this field.

All suggestion regarding tackle, hook size, types of line, poundage,
which fish guide etc etc even which hotel to stay in will be greatly appreciated.

    Million thanks.

Welcome to the forum so now you find more times to post here because you had been retrenced by dbs izzit ? just joking no offence.

i think you have to be very speific which pond you plan to go because all three ponds you have mentioned required different tackle setup.

    cheers & happy fishing

    Re: Hellow everyone ~

    Hello there...

I haven't been to IT lake or the Barra ponds so i'll stick to what I know at BSR.

The cats there are literally gear busters so it'll be the heaviest set up for your trip.

I'd say PE3-6 or more, size 8000 reel with 40-50lbs line, 80lbs dupont leader/ 100lbs mono (no need for expensive FCs as the cats are indiscriminate). You'll have to buy the baitholder and float there at abt 100bhth each so it isn't not exactly a strain on the wallet. Get a hut too.

I suppose the set up for the Barras are the same as you would with the ponds in SG, even though they're potentially big. Rods of 6-18lb or 10-20lbs should be good and I suppose IT lake 'might' be similar to FW3 so you might not need 'heavy' setup (but what do I know?)

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Hellow everyone ~

BSR is deep (I think about 12m deepest, can correct me if wrong) and so the cats really put on the hurt when abt 1-2m away from the 'platform' diving towards the stilts and/or to the side if you're taking a hut. So your reel has to be big enough to take it on.

You could still bring 2500 for the barra ponds & IT lake.

Good luck girl and let us know your story.

    Re: Hellow everyone ~

I need a little help on the cost of fishing in Bangkok.

Was quoted 7000 bahts for a fishing trip at Boon Ma Bara pond for 2 anglers.
Fee is for transportation from hotel to pond and back to hotel and fishing licenses.
Excluding food, drinks and tipping for the pond helper.

Quoted 5000 bahts for fishing at the famous Bungsamran Pond for 2 anglers.
Fees for fishing licenses and guide, excluding baits, food and tackle self bring.

No idea how much the IT Lake will cost ....
Seems not much info regarding the above lake besides beautiful catches.

Are the above the normal charges ?

Any infos regarding fishing in Bangkok appreciated.

    Re: Hellow everyone ~

Was told the current rate for fishing in IT monster pond is about 3500 bahts per rod per day on half day luring & half day baiting and 7000 bahts for full day bait fishing.
