The 2 largest Doggies were caught on popper.. ask Sam of Team 7 (Gina's new Yishun tackle shop). He will tell you how long he needed to recuperate from the fight after he landed the fishes. hahaha!
Water did not look good after the 1st day of torrential downpour. There was some silt suspended in the water, caused by surface runoffs from the surrounding mountains. I've previously experienced some days on such water & had very poor results on spots with just moderate potential. However, as you can see from the pictures, we still managed to get strikes & land some at the spots we went.
I experienced a "non-negotiatiable" take on my popper on the 1st fishable day, ensuing with a line break.
2nd fishable day, I had a sizeable bluefin trev take my popper. It was one of the largest bluefins i've ever seen. at least 10kgs (conservatively). Darn fish was smart. took my popper & swam towards the boat. I could not tighten the line fast enough to set the hook... so, it was farewell to that clever beauty.

Thanks for the report and picture guys. It seems like Padang is another hot spot for sportfishing!
Hopefully one day i could have the chance to go there.

Guys any advise on what's the minimum for popping and jigging in Padang?
Anything else/extra that we need to look out for?
I heard its mainly a PE5-6 place. Hope i can plan a quickie there.
I am interest in trying out there but when will be a good time to go?
