Hi Pak Jon,
Thanks for the weather advisory...really strong winds in Singapore too now...kinda freaky...
I think we might be doing Pantar & Alor...team leader not sure either! Otherwise might be Rote.
Cheers,
mark
Hi Mark ,
Good luck guys , hope you catch big ones .
Jon .
Hi guys,
We just got back from the exploration trip.
Planned to fish 3 days but could only fish 1.5 days due to flight rescheduling brought about by bad weather...we also encountered some mechanical problems with the boat which forced us to head to shore at noon on the second day...down one engine and the other was on it's last legs...
Logistically a major nightmare...we had to deal with flight delays, 3-4 flight cancellations, cab drivers that failed to show up at 4.30am etc etc....all in, we probably spent 4 days traveling and in transit just for that 1.5 days out at sea
Add to that very strong winds, choppy seas and lots of rain...I honestly thought we were done for!
However, the 1.5 days we had out at sea was real SOLID fishing...lots of strikes & some very nice GTs
I'm not much of a popper man but my popping mad mates ChrisT & Narc who have fished Komodo, New Caledonia & Marion Reef tell me that GT fishing this good is hard to come by....
The skipper was Yuji-san of Legend 5 fame.
Here are some pics of the trip...enjoy!

Wonderful stuff!![]()
Hi Mark ,
Shouldn't go before Chap Go Meh celebration but fantastic results considering only 1.5 days fishing .
By the way , that place is still very remote even by our standard , enjoy it while you can but yes , that Suzuki outboard engines have been troublesome from the beginning .
Jon .
Thanks Jon!
Yeah...the weather was a nightmare...and yup...very remote!!
But very impressed with the results, we had strikes almost at every spot!
We were about to head further west on day 2 but the engine died and the other engine was behaving weird...so a very slow crawl back to port...safety first!
tight lines,
mark
Absolutely Jon! I am now a popping convert
BTW, the cuberas worked well...the captain liked them too...![]()
Hi Mark ,
Thanks for the compliment , AhGu is the man for Heru lures in your area .
Salute to you guys , really brave fishermen ! All the time I was watching the weather in that particular area n the news were full of small freighters getting aground or almost sank due to big waves offshore .
Right now my boat is on dry land for annual maintenance , hope by mid March to be able to head east again .
Jon .

Hi Kenny,
Congrats on making it to this month's SALT World
Nice CI doggie!
Great to see you guys back in action!!! Fantastic fishing given the circumstances.
I'm off to the Andamans next weekend. Hope to be able to post a good CR on my return early March![]()
Being the lazy slob I am....... trolling will be the main form of fishing. Hopefully I can get me a good billfish.
