Took the LightPop from the guys at Kaiser to Rompin a couple of days ago looking for my 1st Sail on popping for the season.
Luck was on my side and got my 1st Sail for the season on the LightPop 68M and the El Toro 60grm popper.
My personal thoughts....rod is light.. thought it to be too soft for the job. Cast a mile with 40,60gms El Toro poppers and the 50grms El Nadador(sinking stikbait) and am surprise it worked the 60grm El Toro with ease.
Got only Mackerel teeth marks on the El Nadador..no mackerel...mac was too fast for me.
Rod is fast enough to hook up at the right strike....also the usual missed hook ups..common in this game. Butt power is there to lean on the Sail to come boat side asap...took 5 mins to boatside...est weight 20kg +-...can't complain for a rod that look n feel too "soft' to me.
No regrets in getting one for myself as i know Ah Gu knows what he is talking about. like you told me about the design of the blank and how it works.
Yes...it works.
Down side about this rod is the butt end built too short for my liking and i will forgo the exposed blank and go for full eva...not accustom to feeling the blank when casting and lots of scratch marks on the expose blank caused by stciking the rod in the rod holder...sorry guys..
Looking forward to more captures(i hope) in the upcoming season.
My personal opinion....opinions differ of course.
Rob
