Yo Saimee / Mikey

Guys ..... it has been almost 2 weeks & still no trip report from you or Mikey on his swan song / grand finale trip. Is it forthcoming or there is no report for that trip in the works? The pre-trip hype for that expedition has left me & others hanging on tenterhooks for the results Or am I so blind that I missed it???

Mak,

I have pretty much finished Day 1's report, I passed a draft to the others to correct, since my memory is notoriously bad.... Day 2's report is in the process but the trip was severely shortened due to the intervention of winds from Typhoon Chanchu and the resulting sea conditions.

As for the trip as a whole, unfortunately, things did not turn out like I wanted, due to current conditions and the fact that this year has been remarkably sh***y in terms of fishing. My crews and I are unanimous in saying that 2006 has been one of the worst years of the last 5 years.

The crew went on a trip last Saturday/Sunday and I checked with 3 other crews that worked the same area yesterday and everyone has found the fishing pretty lean. As Mikey can attest, we really do cover a load of ground looking for fish. Even then, nothing much from the crew yesterday, just 2 smallish MJs, a few 3-5kg ACK, an 8kg Tenggiri and a few snapper.

I dunno whats up, but I will probably send down a thermometer on one of my rigs to measure the temp down at the bottom. Hope the pressure doesn't blow it up.

Regards,

Saimee
