Was out on the calm water at 23rdMarch@1900hr. And the guys decide to head off and do some squidding. After an hour, they manage to get quite a number or large squids and we went to our first spot. The first to hook up was Kahar's friend which was a MJ believed to weigh around more then 3 kg. Then it was the same guy who landed a baracudda. We believe there were lots of them there as we keep losing our hooks and ranggong. Kahar even complain there seem to be a rope underwater in which the fish pulled towards at. After an hour or more we decide to move to other spots. The sounder alarm went off and down went the anchor. The sea suddenly became quite rough to our liking and i dozed off a little as i was tired due to work. Woke up around an hour or more and the sea condition didnt seem to change. Choppy should be the correct word to make it... very choppy. Notice that 1 red snapper was caught during my rest and quite a few of the guys are already asleep. Guess it must be the condition of the sea that tires them out. I tried my luck for a couple of hours and manage to see that the night seems to be turning into dawn. Realise everyone was asleep except for me. Decide to do some shut eye with the rod in my hand. ZzzZzzz... I wish it was a fish that woke me up but hell no! It felt like someone just switch the aircon on while i was asleep. The sky was blowing very strongly and as it was daylight, i could see dark patches of cloud heading towards us. Wind was predicted to be at 20 to 25 knots. I can even see rain heading towards us when the wind shifted and move that particular raincloud away from us. We decide to pull the anchor up and to our dismay, it seem to be stuck on something heavy. 4 of us decide to pull it at the same time but lady luck doesnt seem to be on our side and Kahar's brother who is the owner of the boat decide to snag the anchor line with a knife. That leaves us without one as a spare wasnt brought along. The rest of the day leave Kahar at the steering wheel guiding the boat as we lay down our line into the water doing drift fishing. I'll let you be the judge of our catch from the photo's. Red snappers, Krisi Bali's, Groupers, and a couple of fish which i cant recognise. The sizes of the krisi bali was amazing one of the spot seems to be full of them. Kahar who guides the boat also manage to hook up a few fishes while guiding the boat at the same time. After trying quite a number of spots we decide to head back on land. Check the time on land, it was 1600hr. Not bad despite the no bite night and the early morning rough weather. These are the few pics i manage to take after we got on land. Guy on the pic is Kahar. Hope you guys and girls enjoy the Catch Report and keep the lines tight Last edited by Akudou : 24-03-2007 at 06:20 PM. Reason: Forgot to mention who is in the pic! hahahaha |

| Moderator | Re: Last week Catch Report Felix, Looks like you boys launched from KB..... Great catch dude, glad to see the Membangan are up and running.... I think I know the spot with the Kerisi Bali.... Nice write up too dude, maybe we should stick to dawn+daytime fishing since night time seems to be a dud for now. Will probably fish next week if weather and time permit. Regards, Saimee

| Senior Member | Re: Last week Catch Report Saimee, Yea, We made a move from kb and the fishes doesnt seem to see the light (bait) at night and its very annoying. Kahar didnt do much 'Tabur' that night, i tried a few times but due to the strong underwater current and no results i decide to give up. Yea, i suggest makin a move in the wee early morning if you wanna do fishing. Night fishing just wears you off especially when theres no bite. Gimme a holla if you do next week, cheers saimee! |
