15/03 to 16/03 Catch Report

Tried to headout to the dropoff for the 3rd time since i got the boat. 3 weekends in a row same condition. Daytime was flat but during evening time, the wind was blowing frm the dropoff area so we failed to reach there again due to the big swells and strong winds.

Launched 'Akudou Angler' at 2pm 15thmarch'08 and the sea was almost flat. We headed off to 55km north at first and when it was 5ish, the wind and swells stopped our journey to the dropoff. So we decide to head to Magpie area around 30km away. Swells was as high as 2 to 2.5m, so we had to tie up to one of the rig for safety purposes.

Catch was just reasonable. Manage to hooked up MJ's,Mackarel, pisang, ikan putih and lots of assorted fishes. Early sunday morning the condition was still the same so we decide to explore for reefs around the magpie area to jerudong. Got some nice spots with table size fishes while exploring. Got back to jerudong ramp at 1ish on sunday afternoon. I counted total distance travelled more than 200kms.

I only manage to take 1 pic of the catches when i decided to head back to the car to get a better camera but when i got back to the boat where my partners was unloading everything, almost all the catch was instantly bought by customers who happen to visit the market. Sorry for the image quality. Estimate weight of catch was around 50 to 70kgs between 3 anglers.
