Sabah KK Catch Report

Date: 15-17 June
Weather: Not rainy, not sunny, not very windy. Overall, excellent weather throughout.
Highlights: 2 x 7 kg tenggirris.
4 x 2-3 kg keris bali
8 x 2-3 kg groupers
2 x 3 kg long nose emperors
6 x 3 kg "duck mouth"
1 x 5 kg 6-foot long morrey eel
3 x 2-3 kg job fish.
miscellaneous fishes.

Catch was overall below expectation and once again KK disappointed us.
Catch rate was slow and scarce.

Hi Clive,

I called Henry and heard about the Catch Report. It seems like KK fishing is going down. Alex also told me that the jackpot was a 7kgs tengirri?

I guess we will have to search for new fishing grounds soon

Cheers,
Edy

Hi Edy

You are right. KK is going down. The jackpot price is going to smaller and smaller fish every trip.

How's fishing in semporna? Good?

Wink KK Fishing trip - add on...

Clive,

Great fish report...
Very accurate, I would add the following:
- 4 x 2.0Kg Coral Trouts
- 1 x 5.0Kg long Nouse emperor
- 1 x 4.5Kg Duck Mouth

Fishing was indeed below expectations... Depleting fish stock? Fishing 3 days after full moon? Somehow we had plenty of fish below but they were just not biting. As the captain noticed, some of the fish we caught had pllenty of little white pait fish in their belly already ! May be the abundance of whitebait fish near the bottom was the cause.

Fishing below expectations but at the end of the day we all got our 25Kg worth of fish per person !

SUPERMAN.

Hi Superman,

Thanks for adding to the catches.
Superman is the champion for "duck mouth" maybe it's because superman and donald duck both hail from disneyland???

Anyway, i think the fish, "duck mouth", as the sabah people like to call it, is probably ruby snapper? Can anyone verify this?

yeah, lot of planktons in the water according to the sotong.
