My Mood: Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Relak Rompin Trip Had wanted to introduce gf to boat fishing for the longest time, considered Nenasi but no toilets on boat so difficult for gf. Grabbed the opportunity a week ago to fish Rompin when Ah Pao informed me that one of his Singaporean customers had cancelled his booking. Gf wanted to have a hand at eging so spent the entire first day catching green eyes and sails. Overall, I think we brought back about 100pc green eyes. Lok chiak, lok chiak affair, 2 green eyes landed were monsters, about 1kg each! Spent the next day bottom fishing and eging again! Landed a 20kg Cobia on bottom. Finally managed to try out my VSB150 on some sails and a tiny dorado on popper, nice smooth drag, not that heavy when mounted on rod but feels very very solid! Cobia vid: http://homepage.mac.com/zziplex/iMovieTheater38.html Oh yeah, check out the green crocs ![]() Last edited by MarkR : 29-08-2006 at 10:27 AM. |

Yes, I did try to use the little green eyes as bait but got no strikes. Given the abundance of green eyes, it appeared that the bigger predators were more interested in a baitfish meal! Had a nice take before the cobia with baitfish again at the Rompin artificial reef (tyre reef) but no hook-up. That area and the wreck are known to produce golden trevallies in Rompin. Looking forward to next week's Catch Report from yourself and Mikey! Tight lines and fair weather ahead my friend, Mark | |
