Not a bad day at Tinggi. Small Catch Report.

Place/date: Pulau Tinggi from 18 – 19 Dec
Angler: Sani
Karim
Hashim (Karim’s brother)
Gear: TLD Star/customized Rod
Fream J/Lemax Rod
Ultegra 4000
Fishes caught: Jemudok
Cobia
Queenie
Blue Dot Travelly (Bulat Rintik)
Coral Trout
Selar
Sagai
Bait used: Live Tamban/Fresh Green Eye squid.
Bust Lines: Abt 20 times due to black tip sharks.
Weather: Windy with light rain now and then, choppy water……

Left Sgp abt midnight 17 Dec, stopped at Pandan wholesale market for ice and light bite. Proceed to Tg. Leman and reached there abt 4 am. Met with boatman, Pak Long, load up our things and making our way to his house at Pulau Tinggi. Unpacked our thing and prepare our gear for the morning fishing. Have some shut eyes.
About 7.30 am had our breakfast and proceed to catch live baits. Caught some tamban and tried to keep them alive in a Styrofoam box but unfortunately but some barely survive. Used the live one and managed to catch some Jemudok and Blue Spot travelly. Fished till 3pm and then proceed back to land. Not much fish caught as most of the tamban are dead. Have lunch and relax the whole day. At night went to Jetty to catch squids. Managed to catch about 10 pcs. Hooray……got fresh ammo for next day fishing.
Next morning about 7.40 am after breakfast, went out again and stops to catch live tamban. This time managed to keep most of them alive. We frequently changed the water in the styrofoam box. While we fished for tambans, I caught a cobia, about 1.5 feet on tamban jig. This one was caught and released.
When we reached the spot, I am the first one to get my line in the water. Using live tamban as my bait, what do you know, first bite. And this bite is really a mean one. Fought it for about 20 mins and its gone…damned. Clean cut at the leader. It happens to all of us in the boat. We were told by the boatman that there are a lot of black tip sharks below preying on out catch. The boatman told us that, once the fish bites, quickly reeled up the line. This is to prevent the shark from grabbing our catch. We stayed at this spot till about 11.30 am and proceed back to land as the boatman need to send us back to Tg. Leman before the tide is very low. We caught most of the fishes at this spot.
After lunch, packed our things and ready to go home. Reached Tg. Leman, stuffed the car with our things and bye-bye Pulau Tinggi. We will be back very soon.
Sorry. Photos was taken on a camera phone.

FB,

Nice catch dude. nice sizes too, don't you just hate it when you get a nice fish, bringing it up nicely and suddenly it becomes very heavy for a second and then very light..... hello Mr Jaws

Looks like you had fun though, next time bring portable battery powered air pump for your livebait, but most important thing is changing the water. Instead of styrafoam box, you can also use those big plastic bucket shaped coolers with a handle... more sturdy, has a solid lid and of course multiple uses to carry ice, fish, wet tackle etc etc.

Keep it up.

Regards,

Saimee

You are very right Bro Saimee, hated those Jerungs. Well, maybe next time instead of catching Jemudoks will be catching those Jerungs. I think your evil twin Edros would really loved to fight those sharks.
For the battery powered air pump, in the process of making one.

In London huh?

Maybe you should go visit the House of Hardy & order up a Zane Grey!!!!! If they are still making them..... should be in the region of $15K or more!!! Was told the only person in our region that has them is your country's Monarch
