Champion 25.5kg grouper, 2nd 18.5kg grouper, 3rd 15.3kg grouper, 4th 15kg grouper, 5-7th all ruby snapper within 13-15kg, 8th and 10th 12-13kg amberjack.

That's why they argue this noon, foo chow say sun fish hakka say moon fish. This fish not on jig or bait, they say at night attract by sportlight they gaff it.

I remember watching a documentary about commercial fishing in Taiwan, in which, they featured Sunfish.

According to the documentary, the Sunfish is a very sort after fish in Taiwan because of its rarity.

People there consider this fish as delicacy, and restaurants use the meat for sashimi, bone for soup, marrow for stew, and deep-fried the skin.

My frend gaff it but not sure he eat the fish or not, will check from him.
17 boats join the competition, it's a 2 day 1 night trip, most of them went to Miri dropoff and sampah besi, through radio knowing that 3 boats headed east to Brunei border dropoff and most of the winner were from the 3 boats (i heard from one of the marshal). Crystal coral biggest catch below 15kg with 20 participant on board.

No need to ask me how much they chartered will check 4u....know your hand itch liao...hehe

I'm sure it called sunfish, moon fish looks different came across the pics from kingfisher or R&L b4, it's round shape and body with yellowish/orange colour, was caught by KK commercial trawler.

No places to pop here, Maharaja oil rig GT below 20kg no fun at all.
Your jig rod either too light or too heavy duty, here PE#5-6 the best even go spratly can use (also easy to sell). Interested in Saurus but jig weight alang2 and the price...hohoho add a bit more can get carpenter liao...
and the length tooooo long, jigger here like to use below 6'.

I informed my kakis login take a look liao if they interested will call me. :P Physlo sms me liao....

Better give me a fix date, how many days fishing? will ask my Miri kakis to arrange (members of Miri fishing association).

I've been to sampah few times on board c.coral, jigging not so good but bottom bashing ok. Btw, there will be a 4d3n trip on 14/7/06 onboard crystal coral to some where near Merpati, targetting Amberjack, Dogtooth Tuna, grouper and bottom fish , RM$800/each think still got 2 vacancy, interested may contact organizer POLAND: 0198541111 (MIRI).

Commercial boat cheaper lah but not so comfortable (some even without rod holder), if using crystal very expensive leh and need to look 4 more kakis at least 14-15 anglers .
