| Moderator | Kuala Rompin 11-Sep-05 It has been a long plan… finally 8 of us heading to K.Rompin on 10-Sep-05. The group: Octopus, Wan Amildin & Richard from JB; Pep_cgi, Sesirat & Dejagothic from KL; Norizal & Fishcrazymy from Nilai meet at K.Rompin 8.15pm at the food stall there. From there added another member from Kuatan, Peter. So total become nine person but Peter will arrive on next morning. After dinner, we go to our hotel for some seminar . Where Wan teach us the new knot for easier tie and very good knot strength. After that we go for shower then te h tarik again before sleeping. After breakfast, we start our trip at 8am. 2 boats, Sky Chong & Ah Siang are the boatman. As usual we go to unjam area for baitfish. As the “bullet” there, 2 boats split to their own location for sailfish. 10.30am, my reel starts screaming. After solid hookup by Ah Siang, I took over the fight. Beautiful stripe & color, it jumps up for few times. It took me about 15min to land the fish. Estimate 25-30kg. After photo session, it backs to the deep blue sea… About 11am, another reel cry loudly. After hookup, the sailfish dancing with it’s tail… very beautiful. But the line snag, the fish gone…. 11.30am, reel screaming again. After solid hookup, fighting began. About 20min, land another sailfish about 25-30kg as well. Within these hours, I do the jigging for squid. Green eyed & “toral” species caught. It is very fun for this squid jigging too. Myself become the “champion” for squid catching Lunch hour no more bite at all. So we were having our lunch as well. Double hookup action around 3pm. But sadly, both also snag. Around 3.20pm, hookup sailfish but then again snag. 3.35pm another strike from sailfish, this time Deja bring the sail in about 25min. larger size about 30-35kg. After that we change location. We got hookup at the new location also but as usual, line snag and the fish gone. We carry on searching the sails… but we had to go back on 5.15pm. We go back hotel for shower, clean our tackles, packing. Then bring some of our catches to a food stall for dinner. Very tasty, very full… coz all are fresh J. We start our journey home around 10pm. Hope to see you guys next time. I really enjoy the trip. Total catches(2 boats) 5 Sailfish 2 Mackerel 6&3kg (boat1 with live bait slow trolling) 1 Baracuda 7kg 17 squid (estimated) 1 small ebek and other small fishes… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Glad that you land the sail. For sailfish, K.Rompin's boatman are more experience. Aiya, I know you cross over JB quite frequently... give me a ring for kopi then. I had lost all you contact as my hp stolen 2 mths back More pic: http://fishingkaki.multiply.com/photos/album/10

Thanks, my setup pretty simple as main line tie to snap swivel. Sinker #3 put into snap swivel. Leader 20lb 2ft tie to snap swivel, at the other end tie to squid jig orange color. I do think this is not the proper setup. Kindly share for me.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hi Octopus, Thanks for sharing. For me if the current is not strong I will directly connect to main line and swivel. If strong current, I use ranggong with 2 arm length leader, sinker depend on current. You prawn lure look nice, what brand is that ? Cheers. |
