Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Catch Report from Sabah KK (19/6 to 23/6/2006) Hi folks, This is another below par 4D3Ns Catch Report (19/6 to 23/6/2006) from Sabah's KK fishing. Apart from the poor fishing, everything on board from company, boat, foods to sea condition were great. We were fishing from a depth of 70 to 100m. The trip started with a high Fishing Index of 2x7/0 Hooks with 80lbs FC leader and crashed to a low of 8x1/0 Sabiki without recovery. After this trip I am actually looking for an electric reel to facilitate changing of baits on the 100m deep Sabiki. Any recommendation on electric reel will be appreciated? Thanks for reading. |

The Amberjacks were caught on jigs. We experimented with quite a number of jigs and can’t tell for sure which jigs worked better. Have a feeling then that the eyes of the jig were quite important, for example, those found on Crippled Herrings. Pink is one color for sure that didn’t work here?? On one night, the Tunas were on biting frenzy till 4am. Most of them were hook-up at depths between 20 to 30m, and we could actually see them chasing the jigs. Have to stop at around 60 pieces because the boat and anglers were both splattered with blood. Wish you all the best on your coming trip, and since S Korea is out, hope the fishes are back from their Germany’s vacation. A note for those who PMs me for trip details: Since I wasn’t the organizer, please refer to attached pix for contact no. Paid $700 for trip, with one night free hotel stay, plus dinner. We flew by the luxurious SilkAir – a very wise decision by organizer. Hey Ser Chye, Please don’t rub it in. On hindsight, we should have brought back the Tunas for you to fish and burley at PR pond. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hello Richard, Sounds like you had heaps of fun despite the "poor" fishing. Having your wife support your future fishing trips because of the fish you brought home is a bonus too. The fish that looks like some sort of a spotted groper looks very yummy - looks good for steaming :P Regards, Clarence |

My Mood: Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Yo Richard, Going on a trip is better than waiting for two in anticipation, but sometimes the anticipation gets ahead of the fishing.. Hmm, looks like it could have been better, but as I say it sure beats a day in the office Clarence - you're right, that spotted grouper is "lou shi pan" and an excellent fish! Cheers, Wei Khong |
