Hi Mark ,

Saw your photo in the water holding the tail of the stingray on the other forum , I was wondering what a deepwater fisherman like you were doing in freshwater impoundment fishing .

I wasn't even sure if the guy were really you then .

Jon .

Hi Pak Jon,

Jigging & popping this year has yielded very average or poor results for many anglers...Jig Pop Guru & World Angler ChrisT shares a similar sentiment

What to do? Might as well spend some time at places where you'll get a good chance of landing a big fish!

Yes, I don't really enjoy fishing at most pay ponds but IT monster lake is really something else...You basically book the whole lake and fish alone with your guide, there's seldom anyone else fishing on the same day unlike Bung Sam Ran IT lake is also not open to most local Thai anglers...To top it off, IT lake is a real picturesque destination...Believe Dave Irving loves this destination too...of all places, strangely he has decided to post his report on Randy's forum....

The stingrays are caught from the wild and not from a freshwater impoundment or pay pond...they put up a real struggle and it is an inch by inch battle given that the river is only 15m deep!

How's the fishing at P Ratu and Komodo?

How was your trip to Minburi Fishing World?

tight lines,
mark

Hi Mark ,

I agree with you , the sea fishings have been poor in all area , I heard Chris T's trip to OZ was not so good in results too .

I have been fishing in the freshwater river in the jungle of East Kalimantan , the targetted species are sebarau and kelah , still to be found yet is tengah . Check this site for my adventure trip with a Singaporean fisho ; Sei Segah expedition . - FishyForum and there are a couple more by myself n other friends ; Expedesi Menelusuri Jejak Kelah Di Berau - FishyForum , Kab. Berau : Sungai Segah Hampala 5.4 Kg - FishyForum , Sungai Atap revisited . - FishyForum , Kronologi FishyExpedition ke Sungai Atap . - FishyForum and many others .

You need to register though to view the images and we are going to the same general areas again toward the end of July .

Jon .

Mark - nice sting ray! Atleast that rod and reel has seen a big.....something.

Next bluefin tuna??

Jon - Yup the trip down under was pretty poor. Great mother ship, good crew and fantastic service but fishing didn't live up to expectations. Hit a few decent stuff but sharks took care of most of them.

Hi Chris ,

You met Malcolm Crane n Chris Harrison , both are terrific guys . They also kind of disappointed with the results but that is fishing and not catching , sometimes despite all everything is right the fish has other thing to do . Better luck next time .

Hey Jon,

Met some nice blokes on the trip.....Malcolm, the famous BernieK or Brandon but don't think Chris Harrison was on my week.

You're right, fishing's like that. Sure we were disappointed but I had fun trying and the scenery was truly amazing.

Maybe next time......

Sorry for the off topic Mark aka stinkray slayer!!
