| Senior Member | Chalong Phuket We had a good day out but there were no fish taken. Here are some photos of a few of the boats that are out of Chalong and a few shots of Racha Yai and Racha Noi Islands where I fish quite a bit. This will be my last Catch Report for a few weeks as I am heading out to Affrica for a few weeks. I look forward to getting back and fishing more. Enjoy the photos.

Will be staying at Patong beach area. Can you recommend me a productive spot (jetty) for surfcasting there? Thanks and happy fishing. |

there are many places to fish local from shore. I would suggest that you go to a local tackle shop called Ocean sport in Chalong and speak with the owner (Mr. Moo) He is a Great guy and can advise you on what is being taken from shore and the location aswell as the gear. I fish offshore but I will be more than happy to help more when I get back home. I am in Africa right now.

Back in the day it was maybe 20 boats max and even then it was enough of a crowd - I can't imagine what a parking lot the northeast side of Racha Yai must be on a busy day in high season. On the plus side, that concrete pier is such an improvement on the rickety old thing with missing flatboards every now and then that used to serve the fleet. It was treacherous. I used to wonder if or when an overweight tourist would crash through and land on the wooden stumps below |
