Give the boys a bit of time...they are exhausted with the weather there and jet lagged. They were not fishing in Takabakang but a relatively unexplored reef South East of Takabakang called TakaRewataya, due to the weather!

Mark,
We're on the Odoras....a dive boat if i'm not wrong.

Edy,
The Escolar doest not take out much line. Reeling the bugger from a depth of 200m plus makes the angler tired instead. My guess, a six gill shark will anytime fight better.

Re: TEAM IMF TAKAREWATAYA EXPEDITION

ooh.. I see.. I think I know that boat, its a wooden boat wif diesel engine is it? Mooring in POPSA.

But if I'm not wrong the boat only has 7knot max speed, so how long it takes to takarewataya? It's 70miles away from POPSA...

How long was your trip bro? How much is the total cost of the trip excluding the air fare?

Salam Pak Wiwied,

On the contrary, it can attained 8 - 9 knots. We arrived within 7.5 hours, but reaching back to Popsa took us 10 hours. Due to unfavorable weather. Kapal Theodoras pake mesin marine, mereknya Yanmar. It will be able to achieve 10 - 11 knots with the vessel now going through some changes in the engine room. Additional room will be added at the back by 1.5m and more rod holders at both portside & starboard to accomodate more rods for bottom fishing. Anybody wants to give this place another try will be on May 19th till 24th. 4 vacancies left. Cheers!

Hi Chris ,

Wiwied is one of our friend , relocating to Makassar recently and have become our contact for Makassar n surrounding .

I presume this boat is the substitute of SEMANGAT 1 which has changed owner recently and Capt. Herry Trolling is going to captain a 24m boat , now being outfitted in JKT .

You are not fishing Pelabuhan Ratu ? YellowFin Tunas are there in small schools but plenty of them for everybody to cast into . The biggest so far is a 52 kg but mostly 20~30 kg in schools .

Jon .

Re: TEAM IMF TAKAREWATAYA EXPEDITION

Dros....

Ok, I got the idea now.....

Shame the sea conditions were not that great, next time, the charter should consider towing a small outboard boat along so they can cover more spots close to the big boat.... I suspect that there will be a whole bunch of good spots for bottom fishing out there....

Any idea how deep that reef was?. Anything shallower than 300ft?.

Saimee

Edros,

Did you guys weight the fish that it is really 80kgs or was it by estimation only?

Seems this is a new playground with alot of potential.

How is the traveling like?

Thanks,
Edy

Looking sharp TEAM IMF

Read the Catch Report posted on FK...u guys fished for only 3 days?

What's the potential like for jigging at takarewataya and can the boat do trips to takabonerate?

tight lines

PS. What puzzles me is that there are dozens of smaller doggies sub 15kg all over the Spratlys and even at takarewataya it seems...but where are the mamas and papas??
