Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Yo...Mark, your welcome bro. We spent 6 days in Komodo for 4 days fishing. On the 2nd day I met with Ghani cs while they were boarding to the Adhek's boat. Good fishing, especially in the 1st day...... at that time we were in the situation where we're afraid of casting, not because too tired of casting but just simply scared of getting da big one again....and again..... ! |

That sounds like the ideal situation..... being afraid of catching ANOTHER Big One.... Usually its being afraid of NOT catching a Big One. Looks like you guys had a great trip. Any idea what size the biggest GT caught was?.... Did you guys get to jig or bottom?. Saimee

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | DFM, the biggest was ard 40kg as shown in the 1st pic. We lost another biggie due to Decoy 7/0 openned while the leader already grabbed by the deckie. It took 2 anglers to subdue the fish, ard 50kg suspected....... really wild & brutal fish to fight ! .....sigh... The 1st day at least 2 times being reefed because the drag too loose and another PE line and leader snapped 'coz the drag too tight...... sigh.... But hey,...... yes ! We had a good time..... p.s: we didn't do bottom and jigging. But jigging still possible there if you know the right spot. I was told that there's a good jigging spot there for Dogtooth Tuna and Amberjacks...... Will targeting 'em down by next visit. We use my friend's boat. rgds, Lod. Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Pak Edy, It isn't Jon's nor Adhek's or Yuji's......it's my friend boat, local guy. You can spot the boat in the last picture, moored at Komodo National park jetty. |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hi $1.50, The rod as shown in the pic is Carpenter DJ83-(ML ?)..... but I tell you what, that rod was nearly 'saturated' when dealing with the big one (over 50kg). Both the rod and the angler suffered too much........ I think Carpenter WV80 is much better to do the task (with the biggies). Albeit DJ83 is a good choice for working with stickbait up to 100gr and easier to cast also........ |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the enlightening Thunnus. Wow, didn't expect to see a Carpenter doing extreme bends. Always thought they were pretty stiff rods, but I did also read somewhere that the DJ series are more parabolic than the WV or SP. Great trip and great pics. Hopefully one day i'll get to go and tangle with one or two |
