Hi fellas,
Firstly, many thanks to Narc for putting together this trip![]()
We fished Bali on 7/10 and 8/10, the first and second day after the full moon. Had planned to fish 9/10 (3rd day after the full moon) initially but scrapped the idea because flight schedules required us to take an additional day of leave. You might think we were crazyto have picked these dates so close to the full moon knowing how strong currents in Bali can be but a couple of days just after the full moon is supposed to be optimal for doggies.
The water temperature was very cold (16 to 18 degrees Celsius)…so cold that a passing thermo cline produced a layer of misty fog on the sea surface. Winds were also cold but the sun was blazing hot, strange kind of weather…some rain on the first day too![]()
In what must be a very rare event, we spotted of a couple of Amberjacks attacking a school of baitfish near the surface!
Currents were insane! 520g jigs had trouble finding the bottom in 30m of water! I’ve fished Bali a couple of times before but this was nothing like I had experienced in the past. Even a 650g jig had difficulty reaching the bottom![]()
Jigging was pretty good with many strikes and several double hook-ups. AJs were firing hot at one of these spots, we would drift back on the mark and get hit almost instantly again. Jigged very rough bottom and lost a lot of jigs. Narc also lost a big GT which the Captain estimated at over 30kg and had a couple of strikes while poppingI broke a blue rose B51SD on a small AJ

Overall it was a satisfying catch for us considering that we did only day fishing and returned early on the second day. Jigging produced 12 Amberjacks (the biggest at around 17 kg), 3 doggies (biggest at around 22kg) and 2 Rubys![]()
I don’t have many pictures so will need Narc to upload his pics and video at a later time.
Tight lines
