Hi Mikey,

Yeah man, should invite Roni over here! Absolutely, it's always the ex stuff that gives way

TLD15- 100kg grouper...no probs
Torium 20- 55kg Amberjack...no probs

I'm selling off all my stellas, saltigas and accurates tomorrow...gonna wipe the dust off me dad's old senator 4/0 and spool it with some PE line asap

Actually, it is hardly surprising that this is the case. Somehow, for this class of tackle i.e. Stella, Saltiga, Accurate, Tiburon etc. people equate the higher dollar value with higher drag settings And it appears that the higher the drag setting, the harder the fish pulls & as such the higher the chances of gear failure.

For example, looking at the pictures & information posted on Samson fishing & the drag settings they supposedly use, what's surprising is that they don't fail more often!!! Then again, the fact is that it is pretty clear many of the manufacturers has made "overclaiming" of max drag the norm

Opinions differ of course.
