Re: Dogs of Taka

Hi MarkR,

Look at those poppers in the background. Maybe it was caught by popping?

Cheers,
Edy

Re: Dogs of Taka

Dudes..

the time taken for Theodoras to travel out to the fishing area in Takarewataya from Makassar for this trip was actually around 10 hours, as the sea was rough.

The fish was actually more accurate to 50kgs, as the 45kg scale was straining to bear the monster.

Interestingly, that was the only Dogtooth Tuna above 10kgs for that trip!

It wasn't caught on popping - I don't know of doggies this size coming up to chase poppers.. anyone has any info on such cases of taking a Dogtooth Tuna above 20kgs on popper? - it was caught on a 200gm jig.

Cheers!

Re: Dogs of Taka

The last time I encountered a doggy landed on poppers was I think the 2003 or 2004 season fishing the Straits Of Makassar with the editor of 'Kingfisher'. We were fishing in Dewakang. It was recorded on video too. To top it off, the doggy was a whopper specimen of 40kg!
