Local Wreck 'Gao'

Guys,

Last weekend, we went fishing around waters of South China Seas just further up after Mapur. No biggies besides a cobia and a stingray and assorted fishes destined for dinner table. Along the way home, we stopped at a local wreck to try our luck. In a space of 2 hrs of bottom fishing, a kaki landed 2 'Gao' 15kg & 11kg each. And he lost another due to poor hook-up. Guess, what’s the bait??

Regards
physlo

Both caught using the same bait. Yew Seng's secret weapon....you know it. I'm gonna start a tiny business selling them...lol.

Anyway, like you mentioned, they will take almost anything. Eh..maybe Mike's salty rubber will work too..lol

Physlo,

Great catch from local waters

Mike, instead of tennis ball SR, maybe it's worthwhile to modify gym dumbell which are collecting dust somewhere, drill a thru hole, rig it with trolling skirt plus game hooks on wire to try for papa & mama gao

Even if no papa gao around, may have papa giant octopus grapping it tightly like a mating companion due to its flamboyant skirt

Good catch Edros!!!

That is so funny YS ... but a giant size SR might be a good idea ... (god workout) too

hahahaha!! YS... not sure if I mentioned this before but it really did happen!! A real life Octopus hugged my SR and was lifted into the boat (it came bait ) The cheeky bugger must have thought my SR was a "chio bu"! LOL

Actually I was thinking of using a downrigger weight for converting into XXXL Salty Rubber!! If can find one cheap I'll bring it for my year end trip...
