Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Hit & Run Trip A quick check of the tide table & tidal stream chart told us last night’s current was pretty good. So on short notice, we chiong on a hit & run trip. Catch numbers wasn’t great, but it was made up in quality. Didn’t weigh the queenie, but I estimated it to be at least 7kg. As for the grouper, we figured it to be about 8-10kg max. It surprised us by weighing in at 12kg. It was round like a beer keg!!! Both these beauties were caught in the morning within 15 minutes of each other using the 870N coupled with the GUSA SW65H. What a nice morning double quickie!!!!! |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Nice catch Mak...weird looking grouper though Had a friend onboard Ah Cheng's boat last night too. Catch was bad I understand. No ACK, best fish was a smallish kaci |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Hi Edy / MarkR, Yes, this fish is indeed fat & have weird proportions. Here's a shot from another angle. Its tummy is almost as large as mine!!! The conditions were pretty good last night -- able to catch some live squids, warm currents at certain periods through the night, nice current strength -- but the boys just ain't feeding. Only one pearl perch and a couple of missed bites from 10pm plus to 7am Saimee, You've got to be kidding!!! Mikey, Queenies are aplenty in our waters as you know. Just need to know where & when to target them. They come in plague proportions & very good sizes when the tides are right. Best regards, Makaira |
