Good start for 2007:)

The usual friends met for another Changi offshore to start the new
year.Thnx to Sani for getting the watwat as later we found out that most
shops had baits sold out.
Set off @1830hrs from Changi Point and headed straight out to Hyundai.
Since tide was rising,we had most of the good hits at this area.
First to be brought up was a stingray followed by a couple of gd sized
grunters,the regulars duris(catfishes).This went on for abt hour/hour half,
then this biggest catch for this trip got caught!
All hoped that this one hit one of the rods,but it rather took on the bait
from handline..most of us were smiling when it was brought up,nice size
for a cattie (est 5kg )to start the year.
After that,mostly gelamas(crokers),duris again till we ended out trip @0730hrs.
Man of the match:Ahmad,with the big catfish,few kilo plus grunters(gu hood).
Haiz...when will i get a biggie on my setup..haha

Happy new year to you. Good catches on new year man. Quite a number of duris man. May I know how to differentiate between the duri & belukang? Are they same species?

Thnx for the wishes
Duri and belukang are from the same catfish family.The only difference
that i know of is that,belukang has 3 green stripes on each side
of the body.Big head,rougher part on top the head.
These belukangs are mostly caught around mangrove,mud flats
Bait wise,both species will whack baits commonly used;dead/live prawns,
squids,worms.

Dudez! If you guys ever need a kaki to help wipe out the cat fish population in Changi pls count me in for your changi boat trips! I've been trying to catch myself a big catfish from shore since June and have failed miserably!

The big one just happened to whack that handline bait,plus another
one size smaller,other than that,the rest of the cats are the residents.
Hope that the biggies will come in this jan,early feb.
Why not we get Physlo to join in huh?hehehehe..
