Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Could Have Been Better ....... As they say ......... strike while the iron is hot .... so chiong again. A pity the boat's genset started acting up. For safety sake, decided to stop fishing just before the magical pre-dawn hour. A pity as the currents started to warm up as we hauled anchor to head back to the marina. The big grouper weighed in at 5kg. |

Yo ... was using 3-4 inch squids. As for the queenies, don't think it matters much. Anything with flash that mimics baitfish do I guess. You caught them on the Daiwa sotong-shaped lumo jig on Yew Seng's boat before right?

| Moderator | Nice hit & run Mak.... Didn't the boat have enough batteries to crank as a backup?.... I missed my moonphase slot on Thursday night come Friday..... its been raining like Noah's party here, next and last slot before Ramadhan is next Thursday and its right in the great new moon phase, so am keeping fingers crossed. Nice grouper dude.... the reason I might come over to fish with you guys is because I bet you ain't fishing in more than a 100ft of water and less than 30 minutes run from the slip at RSYC.... hehehehehehe Saimee

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Yo Saimee ........ wasn't on the boat you were thinking of. That particular gentleman don't do night fishing trips Probably have more than enough juice to crank up the pair of Detroits, but the captain just wanted to play it safe I guess. Can't fault him for wanting to play it safe. Not too worried about starting the engines, but if the genset went kaput & we lost 230V, hauling up the anchor & chain without the winch would be a real pain to say the least If you want to subject yourself to a bout of masochism to come fishing over here, I am sure our friend would be more than happy to accomodate you if the timing is right |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Win lor. Local waters catch big fishes again lor. You proved local fishing can also be good. For that, I re-created the lyrics of Pussycat Dolls’ Don’t Cha for you to sing and it goes something like this: You know I like fishing (You know I like fishing) You know I do (I know you do) That’s why whenever I go fishing I do catch report And I know you read it (I know you read it) It’s easy to read (it’s easy to read) And in the back of your mind I know you want to be like me [Chorus] Don’t cha wish you can catch fish big like mine Don’t cha wish your local trip good like mine Don’t cha, don’t cha Don’t cha wish your grouper was big like mine Don’t cha wish your grouper was fat like mine Don’t cha, don’t cha Fight the feeling (fight the feeling) Leave it alone (leave it alone) Cause if you ain’t impress Then I dare you to challenge me to prove me wrong Let’s keep it friendly (let’s keep it friendly) You have to play fair (you have to play fair) See, I don’t care But I know you can’t do it [Chorus] Don’t cha wish you can catch fish big like mine Don’t cha wish your local trip good like mine Don’t cha, don’t cha Don’t cha wish your grouper was big like mine Don’t cha wish your grouper was fat like mine Don’t cha, don’t cha You know who to call should you want to cut an album hor. | Moderator | Mak, I hear you on the anchor issue dude...hehehehhee... thats why we use ze buoy technique, but that only works well in smaller vessels. I think you and your boys are doing a real good job of promoting inshore fishing in Spore and also proving that doing your homework before fishing is just as important as actual technique... Reminds me of someone who recently commented/complained to one of my captains that it was hard to get Amberjacks on jig or at night.... my captain replied on the lines of "Its difficult to catch anything if the fish are not there..." Keep it up dude, hope Mikey fulfills his Queenie quest. Saimee

Thanks Mark. It is indeed nice to plan & be able to get a quality catch in local waters. It makes it that much more fun ..... if you know what I mean. When fishing in local water, with the conditions so stacked up against us anglers, IMHO, we should plan the best we can to increase our odds of catching something. If we still don't catch anything decent, it's par for the course anyway. Just take it as a nice outing at sea
