Rep Power: 0  | 13 Oct night fishing Had a trip to pengarang last weekend with 3 frds. As it's our first trip there with this boatman, there are many uncertainty. It was a public holiday last sat, so changi ferry point is full of visitor to the sleepy Malaysian town. Have to wait for 2 hours before boarding the ferry. Upon reaching the pier, saw our boat, it's the typical 40ft Malaysia trawler boat. It's comfortable to have 4 anglers fishing at the back potion but there is no rod holder and meals is not provided. Head out to sea at 2pm and went to karang mas area. Current was strong throughout the day till 9pm. Fortunately, using fresh squid and live prawn, grunters and Kee fish is biting. The gelama here is big, caught many which is 300g. Boatman shift many spots ranging from karang mas, eastern bank, P. lima and then channel between horsbugh and lima. During the early part of the night, caught a 1kg grouper and another angler caught a 2kg+ grunter. Action started after 11pm when the current slow down. Many squid surface and boatman is busy scooping. I caught another 2 groupers, 2 Goldie and other anglers caught more snappers. Saw many Malaysian boats fishing around the channel. Catch wise is reasonable for 4 anglers spending RM900 for an overnight trip. Pic attached is catch for my group only. 3 grouper - 1kg, 1.5kg and 2kg 7 grunters - 1kg+ (6nos), 2kg+ (1no) 5 goldie (500g to 1.2kg) 2 Kee fish (1kg+) 2 belt fish 1 parang As it was Hari Raya, boatman's regular anchorman is on holiday so boatman invited some frds to help out. In the end, 3 helpers were fishing at the front portion of boat. Organizer was angry about this situation cos we paid full price but there is so many extra in the boat taking up fishing place, live squid and sleeping place on the boat. They together with boatman catch as many fish (about 20+ fishes) as us (their catch is mostly at night as they caught all the live squid). I did not take a photo of their catch. Hoping to organize another trip on this boat soon, but have to confirm with boatman that there will not be extras before leaving. cheers Last edited by mack : 15-10-2007 at 09:12 PM. |

Lots of squid outside and fishes are around. Should go to horsbugh area now. Would like to thank you for the rod; i was using your previous extreme broadsword 20-40lbs pairing with a saltiga z30. Light and powerful set. Caught the 3 grouper during dead current. Upon bait reaching the bottom, crank the reel 6 rounds and was surprised that groupers are taking the live squid quite high. So how many fish did your group caught last night trip? Any biggie? |

Thanks, i have recorded his tel already, maybe u can edit your thread by deleting the tel no. Pengarang boat are more high tech now, with GPS plotter and echo sounder. Heard that one local boat caught more than 50 AC around lima area. Happen to see "white hair" boat return on sunday morning, they caught fishes like grunter, ack, cobia and stingray. Bond - There is 2 location mention here, pengarang and pemanggil.
