Rep Power: 5 ![]() | 20th February 2004 - 6 pipes The 3 Amigos are back in action once again. After much discussion, we finally agreed to try our luck at the infamous 6 pipes located in East Coast Park. The gruesome tales of the 6 pipes sent all our adrenaline pumping high. The event begins with bait purchase. Due to the fact that we are too lazy to travel around Singapore to obtain live prawns for today’s event, we had to settle for supermarket squid as bait. Adrian & me arrived at 6 pipes; we approached the dark and windy jetty with great cautions. We saw ten of thousands of small baitfishes congregating the surrounding waters of the 6 pipes. This sight boosted our moral to an all time high as we seems to believe that the big fishes will come inshore to feed on these bait fishes, therefore increasing our chances for us to get big fishes. Not long after the first cast, Adrian got our first catch of the day – a catfish. After which the action slowed down a fair bit, with only crabs teasing our baits every now and then. Edy’s arrival seems to boost Adrian’s luck; an 800 grams string ray was landed by Adrian, which he managed to squeeze his catch into a tiny icebox. As the Food & Beverage Manager for the 3 Amigos, I took time out to arrange for late night supper for the event. Tonight late night supper menu consist of rice, pork chop, fishcakes, and cabbage with curry gravy. After supper, we lie side by side on some old newspapers staring at the stars, it doesn’t take very long before we have 3 sleeping beauties [please note: the term “sleeping beauties” was used merely as an expression with no hidden agenda] on the jetty. Upon daybreak, the strong cold morning breeze sent us packing. This event confirm the following myth: · It is true that “10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fishes” · Chris is the undisputed President of the Kosong Club. · Fishes can be caught along Singapore shoreline. · No ghost in 6 pipes, that place is not haunted. · Heavy supper, cold sea breeze, and beautiful starry sky make you sleepy. |
