Hi Edy
That jacket I bought at Taiwan for almost $200....
But well worth the money as I was not prepared for the cold weather there........
Its water proof and has a cotton jacket inside.......

Cheers

Hi folks,

Tica St558 was Vincent's reel? It caught a 30kg Samson and held up pretty well in WA...

HI Edmund
The only problem for the ST 558 is the free spool when dropping the jigging........
Other than that ,it work wonders!!!!!
Can even dish out 15kgs of drag.....

Cheers
Jason

If kena some thing like your 32kg Amberjack, the fight will be a long and tiring one.....

The fight of the Amberjack is really fun... i guess it boils down to the technique of fighting the fish.

The 32Kgs Amberjack was brought up in 15mins time.

Cheers,
Edy

Hi Physio,

Think Vincent's Tica BBs all gone liao. Who got the biggest Amberjack? Edros? Simon? Not even one dogtooth quite surprised man.

You guys like J/M rods? I used a J/M 600 cut to 5'1" recently, found that it was a bit soft, no lifting power under high drag, but I like the action...so I want to get 500g special soon maybe cut to 5'5". Don't want to cut too much this time. Nice combination with Boss 665. Is there a lot of diff btw the 500g 2005 model and the older versions?

Thanks

Yo Edmund
The only problem is that U have to loosen the preset drag to drop the jig as there is no free spool...then tighten the preset drag again to set the drag ......Cos this reel is bulit for trolling and that explain why there is no free spool...

Cheers

Hi Mark
Physio =Edros
Edros have a 500gm special cropped to 5ft.....And He like it very much....
I find the new version action is a bit only the stiff side....
While I am using a 400gms special....

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Vincent did told us the story about your J/M 600gm. The 500gm special is just like any other J/M rod. They are so parabolic (slow action) that i think it's almost unbreakable. As for the 500gm special, it has the same diameter as the 400gm but can withstand much much more abuse. I lifted a 20kg weight with it and the only thing that surrender was my back. I still prefer fast action rod which has good lifting power.

Regards
physlo..
