| Administrator | Maldives Jan 2006 Posting this on behalf of a friend who went fishing in Maldives. --- START --- HI just came back from maldives excellent fishing not the numbers of last year but many big GTs over 35 kg I presume the crew is not used to crazy anglers as us we added our fishing guide from last year and he was at the top jigging by night was outstanding we had one shimano blue rose pe8 jigging rod broken on a locomotive!!! I was spooled once with 15 kg drag on jig 80lb ygk line I had a knife 230g jig cut in two by probably a huge dogtooth trolling was very nice many 25lb dorados big wahoos shark sailfish 120 lb blue marlin (24 miles out side reef) estimated by me as around 600lb that swallowed a 15lb dorado but the leader broke after half an our (200lb) when the marlin was 15 meters from the boat many rainbow runners many football size YellowFin Tunas but we didnt find the big ones this time cause the sea was to rough except one single day 30kg + grouper on jig And above all I had the honnor to fish on a maldivian fishing dhoni the traditionnal skipjack and YellowFin Tuna fishing with a pole some unforgettable experience wich began by doing the live anchovies an the fishing around a tuna buoy --- END --- |
