My wifey just bought me a new BC rod for Salty Rubbering as Christmas gift and I can't wait to try it out! LSK how did the trip go for you?

I had a hit & run Christmas Eve and got my ass frozen and royally kicked by high winds, big seas and crap fishing that night.... all I got was a single 5kg big eye trevally that night.... daytime at first I wanted to just head home, but then the wind died down, the sun came out and Ishak drifted us over a couple of reefs that filled the coldbox with nice sized Kerisi Bali, Red Snapper and Grouper.... will see if I can find a pic or 2. Regards, Saimee

More typhoons and hurricanes brewing somewhere or just the monsoon acting up? Oh by the way, you see that rod my "JIggger 6000P" is sitting on? Thats the "Tong Gas Special' For a rod with such a glassy feel, it sure can detect a bite at 200m! You gotta get one for yourself when its launched man

If the price is right, I'll give it a go, but you know my preferences in Bottom Howitzers... Zeck..... Ice dude, lots of ice.... Best of luck dude, Saimee

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Burma Banks 16th to 21st Dec 07 Saimee - yeah, have been "on ice" past few days to get the swelling down. Doc said it might be gout???!! Sheesh, never considered that possibility. Thankfully though, I feel much better today in that I could at least limp. Crossing fingers that I would be okay tommorrow! -zeck |

Saimee, the Tong Gas special is meant for the Asian market so I reckon its going to be pretty affordable. The photos were taken by Andrew and Suan. If not for them, I think there'll be very few photos to show!

| Administrator | Re: Burma Banks 16th to 21st Dec 07 Hi Andrew, Welcome to FishingOuting. On my trip, i did not try popping but mostly jigging and some bottom fishing. Maybe Stickbom could share his experience on popping in Burma Banks. (We went on same date but different boats) You might want to bring some small jigs like 60 to 90 grams for Yellow Fin Tuna at night. We had encounters with those tunas on 2 separate nights and they were only interested with small jig. Also if you are targeting those deep water grouper, please bring some size 12 circle hooks. On this trip, i only brought 2 sets of fishing tackle (used 1 set only) Ohh if at night there were flying fish jumped onto the boat, it is a very good bait ... just hook it and send it down to the bottom! Btw did you apply any permit from Myanmar Navy to fish in Burma Banks? Enjoy and have fun! Edy

Z4500-> rigged for topwater plugging/PE5 expedition-> for deep jigging (you can leave this at home too if you can jig with the torsa 30) torsa 30-> for bottom bashing luvias 300-> for casting small jigs 60-80g
