    Tuning my Conquest 800F

Ok this little "adventure" of mine came about when the stock drags of my Conquest 800F got jerky. Ordered a pack of C-tex for Calcutta TE300/400 from Dawn @ Smooth Drags and pinched some Cal's grease from Angler's Outfitters (thanks for sparing me the "peanut butter" guys!)

Took me about 5 minutes to rip the side plate apart, 5 minutes to regrease the gears, 5 minutes to cover the new drag stack with some Cal's grease and another 5 minutes to put everything back in place

After keeping all my tools and pulling line off my Conquest under heavy drag pressure repeatedly to make sure its smooth, it dawned on me that the big ol' Trinidad 40 handle knob I have might just fit the Conquest! So out came my tools again, took off the original tiny round knob and fitted on the TN40 knob. Now my Conquest 800F feels like a million bucks! Can't wait to go fishing on Ah Cheng's boat again!

hahaha... to be honest I've never measured how much drag pressure any of my reels can dish out. Its all based on "feels about right" Makaira would whack me with a trolling rod butt if he could when he sees this... he's been telling me how important it is to measure your drag pressure for the looooongest time With the drag mod I'm pretty sure my Conquest can handle any fish around 5kgs with ease. I have 30lb Berkley Big Game Braid on the reel now. Line is decent and not too costly. I haven't fished with Ah Cheng's boat for sometime now. Did anything happen to his boat recently?

I swapped a Jigger 1000P for the Conquest with my friend. Not sure what's the going rate for the 800F.

hahaha too big for casting lure bro! spool heavy so unless you are casting jigs I think this reel will be "lup sup" for seabass fishing if you buy conquest 100/200 I think can change drag and be a great reel for seabass fishing
